One's #14 on my all-time top 20 and the other is #15, but since CMIYC is one single notch higher, it gets my vote.

MARVIN'S ROOM
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/6305268827.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg (Plot: A woman returns to her childhood home, with her two sons, to look after her old father and be with her terminally ill sister.)
VS.
WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE?
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005Q79A.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg(Plot: Gilbert Grape is trapped in a small town with his neurotic sister, extremely overweight mother, and a mentally-handicapped brother about to turn 18. His life is going nowhere, until he meets a girl with a wild spirit.)

What's Eating Gilbert Grape
both are somber movies, but, Marvin's Room gave off a much stronger Meryl-Streep-facing-life-threatening-illness vibe. A vibe, that I do not like.
Out of the two, I liked What's Eating Gilbert Grape better. It's been quite awhile since I've seen Marvin's Room and I only remember bits and pieces of it, plus, I don't remember thinking it was "that" great. My vote goes to WEGG...

Romeo + Juliet. Brilliantly done, and he was great. The Beach was crap, and he was the crapper.
When ROMEO & JULIET first came out on video I saw it a few times and really liked it. But then a little over a year ago I tried to watch it again and I just couldn't sit through it. That Shakespeare dialogue really annoyed me. I don't know why it didn't bother me before, but this time it just plain got on my nerves. I don't know what to think of Romeo & Juliet now, but I do know that I don't really want to watch it again.
THE BEACH pretty much sucked, in my opinion anyway. The scenery was excellent, but that's about it. Too bad they wouldn't have taken advantage of the great location and actually made a good movie. My rating for this one is in between a 4/10 (D+) and a 5/10 (C-).
I'm going to give my vote to Romeo & Juliet, which was at least really good when I first saw it.

Scars: You're pretty.

Romeo and Juliet
CMIYC is good, but so overrated here! IMO, there are at least 4 other Leo films that run rings around CMIYC (Gilbert Gape, Titanic, This Boys Life, GONY). But oh well :(

I think Titanic really deserved it, but I loved Catch Me If You Can, too, and Steven Spielberg kicks ass, so I'm not complaining.

CMIYC is a good winner, even though I prefer TITANIC. Ah, do we care? No! ;) Thanks for the tournament, dh!
