so.. consider you're living in a massive city, where horror fans are everywhere.. you have an UNLIMITED budget, and a store room that Filled to the brim with every flick imaginable..

would you lay it all out for the public to get their paws on? Keep all the old and new mixed in with each other, without a hint of order between them? Will you make the more extreme horror accessable, without keeping tabs on restrictions, et cetera? Clasifications? would you stock OTHER films aside your horror(boooooo!!!)...?

of course, this kind of decision is made ten times more difficult for someone who's seen the majority of their stock.. Nothing pisses me off more than asking a video store clerk who has no idea about a certain film..

Made for horror fans, BY horror fans.... the world would indeed be a better place~!

I'm gonna call my store The Gore Gallery.. Comedy, Classics, Action, Drama and sci-fi would all be represented, but they'd all be horror Hybrids.. all that "New Release-Old Release" Bullshit wouldn't matter, cause people would be just as interested in renting a flick from '73 than one made in '03..

I was thinking about having movies in each category just lumped together, without any kind of alphabetical order... that'd make hunting alot more interesting.

Rating restrictions would be closely followed, considering the lawsuits that I may face for showing Cannibal Holocaust to an eight year old. Gross shit would be kept behind a closed off room.

2 for 1 rentals if you're a schmoe or serial killer~!

Any ideas for your video store?~?

I would have every movie ever made, ever (except julia roberts crap). But I wouldnt let anyone rent them UNLESS they were a badass. I will call it badass gallery and only badasses may enter. I shall give a slapping to all non badasses who enter my store, and all films will be half a cent because I will also own a whole country clawada so i wont have to worry about debt. it costs half a penny because i want to be a bastard to all who rent there, there gonna have to cut their pennies in half.

and i will top them on each other, like a triangle, and you can't break the triangle or your banned from badass gallery forever and
everyone can rent what they want. fuck rating right in the ear but you must rent a chevy chase film once a month or, your banned from my store forever.

Every day you can rent 2 for 1, or 7 movies for 70 cents. and on april 1st you get a bag and pick out all the movies you want and then you go out in back, and you have to run through a gauntlet and if you make it you get to keep them all, you see the my store will be the best ever, and be in the best country ever clawada.

and if you like julia roberts movies your banned from my store, forever. no goddamn julia roberts in my store. Every movie except the shit she stared in, and I think thats all.

I am a major fucking badass.

I am gonna let you guys take care of the city's video stores but I am going to handle the biggest horror multiplex cinema. That is all horror folks. I will have gore night, zombie night you name it. I will have 3-d movies and marathons all new horror and horror classics. I can imagine showing all the Friday's on a friday night and I would do my best to keep the prices down and I would have celebrity shin digs hell Fangoria can have a weekend of horrors at my joint three times a year or more! Now how about them apples? I would call it the Macabre Mausoleum Horrorplex.:p

I'd have your typical neighborhood friendly small video store business, only 1 location, sort of like the corner deli store....i would have all genres and such, but would be most friendly to horror indeed.

Parilese, you can keep the market on multiplex, if I can run a Drive In in much the same way!!! Mainly classic horror, and cheezy flix thrown in from time to time. Marathons for F13th, Nightmare and Halloween. Could call it the Check-out Drive In? Any better suggestions? This would be my dream come true!!!

I'd deff rather have a local Sinaplex theatre so you can watch all your favorite old and new films on the big freakin screen!!!:D If I did have a video store I'd have an "80's Cheese" section, a "These Suck!" section and a bigger Foriegn film section.

This would be fantastic.

For one thing the store would be huge. I have no idea what I would call it. Horror posters everywhere!! The wall would be almost covered with old and new. I would have those big horror banners also, like the ones in the theatre for Freddy vs Jason. I would also see Fangoria and Rue and other horror magazines at a small section of the store.

I would have every horror movie I could think of and find. DVDs and VHS depending on which form it was available. I would try to have both mediums for as many movies as possible. I *would* have a new release section to seperate from the rest -- but I wouldnt keep so called new releases up there for nine months like Ballbuster and all the other video stores seem to be doing for higher prices.

How the hell would I categorize it? Hm. I could have it alphabetical by decade. One is the 80s, 90s... Or by country. American, English....OR by director...John Carpenter, Argento...Or I could just section it by country, THEN decade, THEN director...might be too confusing though. I suppose I would do it this way:
Section it by horror sub-category :p Psychological, zombie, vampire, werewolf, supernatural, slasher, ect. In those categories have it alphabetical. All of this would be done by country as well.

And in the front of the store have the same copies of movies for the very popular directors, as I am sure they would be rented out over and over again.

The membership would be black with a red blood splotch where the person would sign their name. I would have specially mad bags for checkout.

I would sell some of those keychains and other memorabilia we thought of in another post. Also have some nice figurines and other collectables on display (protected).

I would have age restrictions, of course, since I am trying to see this (somewhat) realistically.

I would have horror scores going on all over the place. Like when you walk into Universal Studios and hear either the Jaws or Psycho theme.

I would have a small section for popular horror soundtracks, and a back room for used horror books.

The outfits of all workers would be in black and white or else black and red. The name tags would be little circles with the employees favorite horror film or villian in the background. Or else for people like me who can never decide just some random act of violence or gore depicted.

The shelves that hold the movie would be black. I would have some large mirrors on the wall and some large stuffed clowns, creepy little dolls, some monster masks on the wall...

The used bookstore could also have some autobiographies and guidebooks written by horror directors and actors like Bruce Campbell.

Ah what fun it is to dream...
