the others the best ghost movie of recent mempry

the only other movie tht i can think of tht was just as good was probably stir of echoes and although what lies beneath and the gift are very good they dont top these films and certainly not the others

i gotta say 6th sense. im not sure if session 9 counts but if it does its WAY better then the others. the others was good though, not really scary except for one or two scenes. good atmosphere and very creepy too.

The Others was indeed an excellent movie. I did much to my disappointment guess the twist less than halfway through the movie. It was very creepy with a brilliant performance from Nicole Kidman. However, it ain't the best ghost movie in recent memory. For my money The Devil's Backbone takes home this particular trophy with The Others coming a very close second.

The Other's has really good acting and a great setting. The cinematography was excellent as well. I agree with both of your choices though, The Others and Stir of Echoes stand out to me as the better supernatural thrillers in the past decade.

the only reason i would say 6th sense is better is cuz the others did borrow alot from the 6th sense. like the ending, which wasnt that shockin cuz we had all seen it done before IN the 6th sense. im not badmouthin the others, i think it was a kewl movie. the others had more boo scares the 6th sense but the 6th sense, i thought, was more interesting. that said, nicole WAS damn good in this, it was definatly one of her best performances.

I think The Others was a very well done movie. It reminded me of The Shining(1980) every once and a while. It had a very creepy atmosphere, and they didn't get you with any cheap thrills like The Shining (1980). That was the only reason I didn't like The Sixth Sense as much as other ghost movies. There were a lot of "jump out at you" stuff, so watching it for the second time has a completely different effect.

Great acting too, and very original, with the exception of the end. Even though the ending was very similar to that of The Sixth Sense, they still pulled it off very well. Great movie overall.

Donnie Darko~IMO~better then "The Others"... it's more original, impossible to guess the ending, and it doesnt leave you with that "been there done that" feeling!! I love this movie(the rabbit creepy as hell too!) I give it ***** stars out of 5!

Ok, not to be rude. I love Donnie Darko as well! It's my favorite movie in 10 years, but we/they are talking ghost movies so...yeah, ya know.
