I've heard that this is one of the worst Stephen King related films. It looks creepy and enjoyable. What do you think of it?

I thought it was okay nothing specail, but nothing outright horrible either, it's just im really easily pleased and have pretty much enjoyed all of steven kings books, it's not creepy and you can do much worse, and i probably will be the only one to say something good about it.

Sleepwalkers opened at #1 when it opened.HOW!!!.The True title of this movie should have been Giant Kitty Kat Invasion from outer space.Clovis the Cat was the best actor out of the whole damm cast, who couldn't act their way out of a paperbag.

You take that back!! Alice Krige is an amazing actor!! She kicked ass in Ghost Story and she kicked ass here!

I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed this movie. It was funny, gory, original, entertaining, and creepy all at once. What's not to like?

Also, I love the score, which includes Enya's Bodicea (not sure if that's spelled correctly).

It also stars Madchen Amick, and any movie that stars a Twin Peaks cast member has to have something going for it.

But why was Mark Hamill in it??? When I saw that washed up has-been, I wanted to throw up! Well, not really, but I'm not a fan.

It's beyond me why people trash this flick.
This may not be one of "stephen king's" better films but its still a fun creepy and sexy (Mädchen Amick! Alice Krige!) timewaster with lots of cool bloody special effects plus you get a few interesting cameo's (King, Barker and more).
Definitely recommended I'd say.

I hear ya Pumpkinhead.

While this isn't The Grapes of Wrath or Citizen Kane, it is a nice b-grade offering that I personally own. And am glad I have it. It's campy. Cheesy. Yet has some very valid atmosphere, charm (thanks to Madchen Amick, Alice Krige), and accessories ( who would have thought to use Enya in a horror movie).
I am not a huge Stephen King fan, and I kinda found that whole cameo-bit half-baked, but I would take this little gem over Jason, Freddy, and Michael Myers (a trio I'm really sick of) anyday of the week.

Don't worry about it bulletproof. After I posted that I was worried that it would kind of sound like I was actually pissed off at you. You have every right to dislike the movie, I am just a huge fan of Alice Krige, and felt it was my sworn duty to defend her.

P.S. I love your idea for title. The Giant Kitty Kat Invasion From Outer Space! LMAO!!

This movie is good for a (very) few laughs, but it's really not very good. I would give it 2/5, I guess.

Now that I think of it, Stephen King seems to write a whole bunch of shitty stories.

Thanks for liking my title.

I really enjoyed this movie. I especially liked how it incorporated that whole David Lynch-ish feel into its story: how normal suburbia can hide a whole lot of deep, disturbing secrets under its seemingly normal exterior. For example, the "Brady" mother and son are actually incestuous cat monsters; an innocent date turns into date rape; an English teacher is actually a paedophile with homosexual tendencies...you get the idea. I always thought this movie had more going for it than most people gave it credit for. Plus, Madchen Amick is one of my favourite actresses...why isn't she a star yet?

The Enya tune Bodieca(sp) is one of the songs that if I hear it or even read about it, gets stuck in my head for no word of a lie, like a week!

Actually Stephen King writes very good stories but for some reason they just don't translate well to the screen. I haven't figured out why unless it is that somehow a lot of the characterization gets left behind. Sleepwalkers was good-not one of his best but it was entertaining. I like the cat saves the day thing especially after they have such a bad rap with babies (stealing their breath thing)

Sleepwalkers was based off of an unreleased Stephen King novel. Not sure why he never released it. It's another King effort that was watchable but left me wanting more. Weird story concerning beasts known as Sleepwalkers whose enemies are cats. In this case the sleepwalkers are a mother and son duo who also happen to be incestuous. Unfortunately it has that yucky 90's feel to it. The most noteworthy thing I found was the bit part played by Stu Charno of FRIDAY the 13th PART 2. A much balder Stu Charno I might add. Other than that the best thing is Enya's Boadicea playing over the end credits. Great theme. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

This movie is definitely a guilty pleasure. Love the "Cop-Kabab" bit. Love Enya's Boadicea as a constant undercurrent. Love Madchen Amick and Alice Krige.

And Clovis The Cat RULES!!!

I saw it on the sci-fi channel back in the day. I was pretty grossed out by the incest scenes. I also remember the mom stabbing someone with corn on the cob and saying something along the lines like "Don't forget to eat your vegetables."

If I want some kitty-people incest, I'll watch Schrader's 'Cat People'.

What's this whole theme involving cat people and incest? Are cats known for screwing around within their own family or something?

I enjoyed it when it was released, but haven't seen it since. I do remember that corn on the cob scene, but not Mark Hamill. Been thinking of rewatching it while reading the thread because it's on Netflix Watch Instantly and I think OnDemand, so no hassle.

As for Stephen King stories to film, I think his stories drive a lot on the idea of leaving things to the imagination. In regards of best and worst, I remember enjoying Sleepwalkers more than The Dark Half, but again - both were like 17 years ago.

I don't actually know to be honest, the reason why I mentioned that was because 'Cat People' generally had the same sort of idea. However, as a general note, many species of animals are known for inbreeding, but I haven't explicitly heard of cats doing it in particular.

There are no cat people. Cat's can kill the "sleepwalkers". A mom and son sleepwalker have sex together.

As for the movie it is a good C movie. I saw it opening weekend.

Sleepwalkers was based off of an unreleased Stephen King novel.

I think it was written for the screen. I don't think there was a novel of sleepwalkers ever written.

I remember never having heard the song SLEEPWALK by Santo And Johnny until I watched this movie. It had a cool vintage, late-fifties vibe that I really dug: alot of work went into set design and casting, which was neat.

and yeah, its an original script. King himself had a cool cameo as the gravedigger.

SuperMarcey

Yeah maybe the problem was that King wrote the script?

I wish I could erase seeing this movie from my memory. Horrible fucking movie. I mean she stabs a deputy police officer with an ear of fucking corn!? Were they not embarassed when people laughed at that scene? What a steaming pile of shit.

I think the only highlight of this film was the cameos from John Landis and Clive Barker.

I acknowledge that it's basically stupid, but I've always enjoyed it the same.

Every time it's on I always find myself watching it.

The whole graveyard scene where he comes off like a nice guy but just will not stop chasing that poor girl is a great sequence.

And the whole mother and son engaging in sexual activities to feed off of their own life force is pretty disturbing.

Still, it's not the greatest movie ever made, but I don't hate it.

Its funny, theres always films that you think are bad but somehow when its on always end up watching it lol

Trust me it's a weird instance. Films like Sleepwalkers, Clueless, and the Day of the Dead remake are movies I always watch when they're on cable, even though I know I don't particularly enjoy them too much. Maybe it's that sadistic side of me.

I don't mind Sleepwalkers even though there is some weird shit going on with the Mother and Son , I saw it on the big screen and have always liked the way the film was made , it reminds me of another King film that a lot of people did not like and that is Graveyard Shift-I love that film especially when Stephen Macht is going ape shit down in the basement before the rat-bat thing get's him.

This movie pretty much ruined the Johnny & Santo song for me.

Alice Krige seriously rules, though. <3

I love Stephen King, and love most of his books, but a lot of the SK movies have been pretty bad. I didn't particularly like this one, but it wasn't the worst of the SK movies, either.
