I personally enjoy most of his early work. I even like Phantom of The Paradise better than Rocky Horror. Most of his stuff after the 80's stunk with a few exceptions here and there. A little hot and cold but his thrillers and thriller themed flicks are pretty cool(I have yet to see Femme Fatal yet too). Just wondering what you schmoes think of this director?

I love him. I know he's always been accused of just copying Alfred Hitchcock, but I think he has a style all his own. My personal faves are "Body Double" and "Raising Cain". "The Untouchables" was pretty good too, even if it did star the unbearable Kevin Costner...

Perhaps I'm biased because I worked as an assistant on one of his films at Pinewood Studios in the UK. He was a great guy to work for. (Example: the first time I had to give him a phone message, I shyly approached him and said "Excuse me, Mr. De Palma..." and he turned around and replied "WHAT? Call me Brian!!!" He was VERY nice to work for.)

People do call him a copycat and a hack, but I'm a fan of his work. Carrie was ok, and I think he did it better in The Fury. Especially the ending in this one was very nice.

I regret taping over Dressed to Kill, since I've been dying to see that again, and the only one I can get is the R-rated cut.

De Palma is visually very striking...ummm, I mean his movies are. Although he doesn't use colors the way Dario Argento does, he definately has his own style. I love his work. Haven't seen Mission to Mars though...

Does anyone likes "Blow Out"
I haven't seen it in a long time. I used to love it.

With the exception of Carrie and The Untouchables I haven't been impressed with any of his work. My eyes are still bleeding from my experience with Mission to Mars...

Your right spear mission to mars sucks bad. Blow out is one of my favorites from him. I thought the only two flicks that he did that were any good recently were Rasing Cain and Carlito's Way. Can't wait to see Femme Fatal though.

Well I think he is a great director and has an interesting way of seeing things. He is similar to Hitchcock but he does indeed have his own style as well. De Palma wants to do a remake of Vertigo and as I am the type of person who does not really like remakes but in my opinon De Palma is the only director who could pull this off and make a great remake of Vertigo. His movie Obsession is great and reminds you a bit of Vertigo as well. I think he has really stayed great and I can not say that about Wes Craven or Tim Burton unfortunatly.:p

The Untouchables and Carrie were quite good, I can't say anything about the rest because I havent seen them, but he seems to make pretty good films.
