Hey guys! I haven't really posted in a long time...but I'm back in action with an really boring office job that allows me to be on the internet all day....

In either case, as some of you may know, I'm an indie filmmaker (though I'm taking some time off right now) and I recently got the chance to go to Columbus to see this really cute indie film called Manna from Heaven. I got to meet the producers (five sisters productions, and yes, the movie really is written, directed and produced by five sisters) and I'm really hoping that people start catching on...

WHY? Because unlike the majority of crap that's coming out of Hollywood, Manna doesn't resort to vulgarity, excessive violence, etc to make a decent movie. I thought the plot was incredibly well thought out and greatly enjoyed it. Seeing the five sisters work so hard to promote this film just made me realize even more how difficult it is to really get wide distribution of an independent film.

Yeah, being a Buffalo native, I've heard much praise about this film. Though I haven't got around to seeing it yet, I give each and every one of those five sisters credit to make a film that has caught on so well. I feel they are an inspiration to those who hope to someday make a film in their life.

You might want to check out the production company's website:
www.fivesistersproductions.com

It's got all of their background info, touring dates, etc on, as well as information about all of the other films that the sisters have done.

Hey...I just found this thread and I wanted to comment. I had heard a little about this movie...went to the website and I am now a huge fan of it. First of all...the cast seems amazing. Several academy winners/nominees. Second...the whole aspect that this is a family production is just amazing to me. I truly wish them the best with their film and hope that I can make it to the show sometime.

FYI. For those of you in NY or LA it starts there on April 4th. I am jealous. Maybe I will have to try and get to NYC for a weekend so I can see it.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the movie when I saw it and I'd really like the opportunitiy to see it again. Some friends of mine in NY were going to see it this past weekend, but I guess they couldn't get it together enough to make it there. In either case, they told me that the sisters are running a new promotion-- if you can manage to get up a group of 10 to see the film, you get a free ticket and a poster.

I'm really hoping that this film gets some more traction some time soon. Anyone know how it's been doing in New York?

I just read an article that said that Manna should be re-opening in Buffalo this weekend, I believe. I'm glad to see that the movie's coming home. Hopefully, w the nice weather, more people will get out to see this film.

I have been hearing a lot about Manna From Heaven recently. But unfortunately, I missed the Washington, DC release back in October. Does anyone know if Manna is coming back East? If not, is there an expected video release date?

Thanks.

I believe it might be in Boston sometime in the near future, but besides for that, I don't know how much further east it's going to be.

Still no word yet on a video or national release.

Have you checked out the website(s)?

good call on checking the website, mrsfuz. i just added my email address to the mailing list so they will notify me if the movie is coming to my area. i really hope that it comes back east, but it seems like i might either have to take a road trip up to boston or wait til it comes out on video (if there isn't a national release).

That sounds good. I'm really happy that Manna's going to be doing festivals all of September...I wonder how it'll do at the Toronto Film festival.

I checked online to see how it was doing, looks like it's not showing anywhere right now...maybe the sisters are taking some time off before they head to Canada.

I guess we'll see.
