What's your point? He's got his opinion, you've got your opinion, and those opinion's differ. What's the big deal?

Sorry, I didn't clearify my statement very well. What I meant was that I can understand Ebert's low grade because it doesn't look very good to me.

Um, Rog isn't the only critic who gave Bringing Down the House a mediocre review and Tears of the Sun a decent one.
What's the point of this thread? You seem to be reaching for a reason to talk shit about Ebert. Do you really dislike him that much?

It's not like Ebert was the only one who didn't like Bringing Down the House. He liked Tears of the Sun for one reason, and didn't like BDTH for another, which is easy to see since they're so vastly different

You're cool, dude. My post was referring to the person who started this thread. Sorry for the mixup...

Roger Ebert has a twisted little mind. I have to admit that, a lot of the time, I agree with him (for example, naming Dark City his fave film of 1998(?)). However, when he's wrong, he's really, really wrong. I do find him amusing, though....some of the films he's given a 4-star rating wouldn't sit on my DVD shelf for all the money in the world, while some of my favorite films have been utterly trashed by him. That's all part of the fun of different opinions! What I do like best about him is that he is willing to give good marks to films that are nothing more than fun, "fluffy" entertainment...many critics are too snobby to enjoy anything that isn't art-house material (for example, the New York Times reviewers, for the most part).

Both Films were not so good. "Bringing down The House" was overly stereotypical, and the characters were racist in their own cartoonish way. I would see "City of God" first
