Hmmmmm,

Born Slippy - Underworld

The most memeorable tune for reasons which involve MDMA, a group of Sixth formers and a slighty dry old Principal. Very amusing, and the nostalgia the song brings out in me still remains to this day...

'Flashbacks' I believe they call it.

Or..

Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You?

Ha! Wouldn't you lot like to know...

Anything by Korn or Limp Bizkit. I think just about every kid in my school had one of their t-shirts that they would wear. There wasn't a day you could go by where someone wasn't wearing a korn shirt or you couldn't hear it blasting through some kid's headphones. Ohhhhh those were the days...haha.

Blind Melon - No Rain
Weezer - Undone (The Sweater Song)
Sunny Day Real Estate - Seven
Collective Soul - Shine
Silverchair - Tomorrow
Pavement - Cut Your Hair
Lisa Loeb - Stay
Counting Crows - Mr. Jones
Liz Phair - Supernova
Radiohead - Creep
Urge Overkill - Sister Havana

Ben Folds Five - Brick and Battle of Who Could Care Less

Aaahhhh where do I even start? There was a gradual transition from the "hair bands" of the eighties Def Leppard, Motely Crue, Poison, ect... to alternative stuff such as Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Mother Love Bone, ect.. It's all good however.

Especially on "WHat is love". A month or so ago, my class had to do a skit in front of the school for an assembly, and I got to direct one. I picked to do a synchronized dance to "what is love," that was purposely silly. I got watch it because a parent had taped it, hysterical. That will probably linger as my main High School memory.

I'm still a freshman in high school right now so this may be easy(if you got a problem with it, you know where to stick it ;))

"You never can tell" by CHUCK BERRY(for some reason, I've always wanted to run down one the hallways in my school with this song blasting through the intercoms)

that's about it for now. More later.

Walking in My Shoes by Depeche Mode (1993) reminds me of my graduation night. The actual ceremony, not the prom.

Another is One More Try by Timmy T (1991). Just heard it on the radio a lot in the mornings before school and it always reminds me of high school.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It was re-popularized because of its inclusion in the Wayne's World movie. Reminds me of those days...

I listened to mostly oldies for those five years (it's 5 years in Canada) so there aren't too many songs from the early nineties that remind me of high school. It's mostly the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Everly Brothers and about fifty other bands and artists from that era that remind me of my high school years (1988-1993).

Let me guess, being a senior was the best three years of your life.

Ever since watching Donnie Darko, that "Head over heels" song always grasps me to a time... way back when...

Oh, and that one hit wonder band; "The new radicals". I think they're song "DOn't let go" (is that the name of it?), its basically a time capsule for my senior year. (99)

Mainly The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Smiths, The Mission, Sisters Of Mercy & Prince. Those were the bands that got me through the latter half of the eighties. I remember watching The Chart Show on TV and catching a snippet of The Jesus And Mary Chain's April Skies video. That was a turning point. It was as if a light went on in my head and I suddenly understood that music needn't be empty headed drivel. I remember trying to force my taste in music upon my Bros (yes...fucking Bros) loving friends. Talk about an endlessly pointless excercise in complete futility. The eighties suffered from a dearth of good music. But it wasn't totally barren.

Oh...and sweet Jesus BadCoverVersion...thank god Jarvis came along and saved you from a fate worse than listening to all of the records that have come about as a result of Pop Idol on endless repeat. That's a humdinger of a list.
