Before this match started I was thinking Nicole Kidman would end up winning, but it looks like the excellent Catherine Keener may have a shot afterall. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping she can win this one... I like Nicole and all and find her attractive (although not as attractive as her friend Naomi Watts ;)), but she only started giving some excellent performances recently. Sure, she may have given some "good" performances before, but the buzz on her was never as strong as it is now. I like Nicole, but Catherine Keener is the better actress and is quite attractive herself.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm not a big fan of Sissy Spacek. And I thought the original Carrie was pretty bad. I know I'm probably alone on this one, but I thought the sequel was better. At least Rachel was more easy to care for. Carrie was crazy and so was her mom. Sure, it was too bad that people did what they did to her, it wasn't nice and they all deserved what they got, but I still just didn't warm up to her. But Rachel was actually sane, and I really cared about her, much more than I cared about Carrie.

Ellen Burstyn is great in everything she does. I have especially enjoyed her work in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and the now cancelled (:() CBS show THAT'S LIFE. Her best performance is definitely in REQUIEM though, she was brilliant! I have nothing against Streep, but I'd pick Burstyn over her any day.

I'd have to say that they are both very talented and beautiful. But if I had to choose I would say that Mira is slightly more talented. Plus, I find Mira more attractive and she's my personal favorite of the two. I love how she does a variety of films and has a VERY impressive resume. Mira tends to do smaller movies and Gwyneth does more mainstream movies, so Mira isn't quite as well known by mainstream audiences as Gwyneth is. I wouldn't doubt a lot of people think she hasn't really been in much since ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION, but she's actually done A LOT of movies since then, but most of them are just small movies that get limited releases.

I loved Mira in ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION, BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, and even in the underrated WISEGIRLS. Hell, she was the ONLY reason I saw THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS and she was pretty much the main reason I enjoyed it. She's just absolutely wonderful. Plus, she's very sexy. And while I think Gwyneth is beautiful, I don't think she has that "sexy" look.

Although I love both, when it comes to having to choose between them it's no contest, I just HAVE TO give my vote to MIRA SORVINO!!!

I saw Monster's Ball (7/10 or B-) the first week it hit video. It was "good" and Halle Berry gave a really good performance, but it was still disappointing. But Kirsten has a whole shitload of good performances on her resume and Halle doesn't have nearly as many. So, even after seeing Monster's Ball, I can safely say that Kirsten is the better actress. Halle still has some more proving to do.

I agree DH! If people can look past Halle Berry being in DIE ANOTHER DAY (which is a 3 word title :eek:), then how come they can't look past some of Kirsten's non Oscar-worthy films!? Sure, GET OVER IT was pretty crappy, but her performance was the best thing about an otherwise dull teen flick. It's not like Halle Berry hasn't done some bad flicks as well. It's funny that you mentioned B.A.P.S Nate, cause I actually thought the film was hilarious. Halle gave a very good, over-the-top comedic performance and Martin Landau was a hoot.

She's beautiful and talented, and I know if she was given something great, then she could turn in an amazing performance. But she has done the absolute best possible with the roles she's had in the past. Hopefully someday she'll get a role that will get her an Academy Award, and I definitely think there's a good chance of that happening.

I like Kate Hudson, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Naomi Watts. She was "perfect" in THE RING and MULHOLLAND DRIVE. She's absolutely gorgeous and very talented. Her performance in THE RING was one of the years best. It's hard to believe that this is the same girl that was in TANK GIRL. God, I love her. There's really not much else to say except that I freakin' LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE her! My vote definitely goes to NAOMI WATTS!!!

For this roung my vote easily goes to SUSAN fuckin' SARANDON! The 4th best actress working today who continually gives out FLAWLESS and breathtaking performances. Dead Man Walking is her best of all time followed by Thelma and Louise, The Witches of Eastwick, etc. She also gave an oscar nominated performance for this year's MOONLIGHT MILE. A great dramatic actress with lots of range and a cool person in life. Not to mention she's sexy as hell!
