This song is on an old Mr. Show episode entitled Jeepers Creepers and it plays throughout a segment. I think its a parody of Jesus Christ Superstar.. but since I haven't seen JCS, I can't say for sure.
The song is available on KaZaa, and I'm wondering if the song is originally from JCS or if its an actual Tenacious D tune. Can anyone help with that? I'd like to hear the real version, without audience laughter and all.

How dare you say the lord's name in vain!
Yeah - It's just a straight up parody from JCS. the tune is generic - but the sketch seqment directly rips off the openning to JCS.
Bake, have you seen this episode? It's available on the season 1 and 2 DVD. Trust me -- The sketch is good, but if you see how the sketch fits in with the episode (Mr. Show is known for all their sketches blending together) --- This clip is brilliant. Check it out -- It'll "blow you mind!"

Yeah, I've seen the episode. That's where I heard the song. I only mentioned the audio version of the sketch so that people could help identify the song.
I'm a HUGE Mr. Show fan. You're right about the episode, it is brilliant. I love their sense of humor, it varies from complete immaturity to intelligent gut-busting hilarity and the way they link the sketches together is pure genius. In this particular one "Jeepers Creepers", the best bit was when David Cross is on the mountain top, and the camera zooms in and out over and over with the appropriate guitar riff playing. I lolled.

I love that episode. Jack Black as the slacker messiah. Awesome stuff. Mr. Show was utter genius.
