*********EST. THEATER COUNTS*********

Dreamcatcher - 2,750+

View from the Top - 2,500

Piglet's Big Movie - 2,000

Boat Trip - 1,700

DREAMCATCHER - 29.5 Million

There's no doubt that this one will do very well. The TV spots are everywhere, it's based on a popular Stephen King novel, and the recent TV spots are filled with quotes saying how scary it is. Plus, the TV spots are very well done. They make it look much better than the trailer did. Even with an "R" rating, it's sure to do well. I think it will open similar to, but a tad less than, last spring's Panic Room and Blade 2, which opened with $30,056,751 and $32,528,016. Both of those carried "R" ratings as well.

A VIEW FROM THE TOP - 6 Million

Although the cast is solid, the TV spots are pretty weak. Personally, I want to see it, but I certainly think they could be doing a better job of advertising it. I haven't seen a trailer for it, but I heard that they are funny. So I'm assuming that the funny stuff from the trailer was left out of the TV spots!? Because nothing in the TV spots have really made me laugh. It does look amusing though. Unfortunately, I don't see this one doing too well. But the cast and PG-13 rating should be able to get it an opening of 6 Million or so.

BOAT TRIP - 4 Million

The plot is amusing, but the TV spots really aren't that funny. I know I'll probably just rent this one when it hits video. I don't see it doing very well at the B.O. either. With an "R" rating and un-funny TV spots, BOAT TRIP should only be able to manage a 4 Million opening and a finish of about 11 Million.

PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE - 6 Million

I definitely can't picture this one doing as well as The Tigger Movie, which opened with $9,427,532 and finished with $45,542,421. With Agent Cody Banks also attracting family audiences, I think Piglet's Big Movie will play mostly to a younger audience. Like most family movies, it should have decent legs, but I don't see it opening with more than 6 Million.

What and awesome week for movies!

DREAMCATCHER- This is really going to do really well. I think it might even outgross Panic Room. I really want to see this. And I am happy it has a "R" rating. And from what I hear it is a hard "R"
23.1

A View From The Top- This will have a good opening and then see some small and then huge declines. I want to see this also. And with the "PG-13" rating it should have nice opening weekend. 11.2

Piglet's Big Movie- This should do very good buisness this weekend. I think ACB will drop a lot and this should be at least number 5. 8million

Boat Trip- I think this looks so funny. But I don't think it will do good. 5million (and that's pushing it.)

Bringing Down The House should pull off another 18 million also, grabing the number 2 spot.

Dreamcatcher - 19 Million - I think this movie will be successful, but i dont see it makin that much higher, but we'll c how the week goes.

A View From The Top - 9 Million - this movie will draw crowds with is all-star cast, that's about it.

Piglet the Movie - 4 Million - WTF?!?! Disney! it's called advertising!! ur movies are not all guaranteed hits like they used to be! put effort into promtoing this film! I've never even heard of this, let alone know it was comin out this week.

Boat Trip - 8 Million - I think this looks pretty fun, and should perform decently. I don't see this makin less than 6 million...

"Dreamcatcher"-

I have a feeling this'll be a big hit. First, Stephen King is one of America's most famous authors and almost all of his fans will turn up to see what Kasdan did with one of his best books. Second, it stars Morgan Freeman who will attract an older audience, plus Jason Lee will bring in "movie geeks". The trailers are perfect: letting you know it'll be a creppy horror/sci-fi, but not showing you every little detail imaginable. As Mike pointed out, "Blade II", another thriller/horror, did very well in Spring and this WB release should follow suit. I predict an opening of 32 million.

"View From The Top"-

I smell a big bomb here. The trailers and TV spots don't seem to get good reactions at my local theatres, and the cast really does not have one HUGE star, unless you count Myers, who has never really had a big hit outside of his two SNL-ish characters Wayne and Austin Powers. I predict an opening of 4 million.

"Piglet's Big Movie"-

Will get all the kiddies. 'Nuff said. 9 million.

"Boat Trip"-

With its lack of starpower, R rating, and mildly amusing trailers, this one should be a bomb like "Sorority Boys". I predict an opening of 2 million or less for this comedy.

Actually, I'm surprised by how much advertising I've seen for this one. I've certainly seen more ads for this than I do for most kid/family flicks, especially animated ones. Usually they mostly just advertise on family stations, but I've seen ads for this one during more "adult oriented" shows in the evening. I'm a little surprised you weren't aware of it Ed.

My Very Early Predictions

Dreamcatcher - I think this is gonna be the huge hit of March. Everyone I know wants to see it and the trailers are scary as hell. Plus, it's got an awesome cast, and advance buzz has been good. And to add to that, hardcore Matrix fans will see it for the short film at the beginning. I can see an opening of anywhere from $25-32 million with a finish of $80-100 million.

View From The Top - I think this could do fairly well, actually. The cast is appealing and the TV spots are on all the time. Fans of "Austin Powers" will see it for Mike Myers, and since "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" is slowing down, I can see an opening of about $14 million and a finish of around $40-45 million.

Piglet's Big Movie - This will do good business, but fairly less than "The Tigger Movie." It's got Cody Banks to worry about this time (even though, after seeing that movie, I cannot understand why it is being marketed as a children's movie), which should take away some money. I see a $10 million opening and a $25-30 million finish.

Boat Trip - I find it absolutely hilarious that the trailers for this are marketing it as a sex comedy and the TV spots are marketing it as a romantic comedy. It's very odd, and I don't know if it will make all varieties of audiences come in. To give it credit, it looks pretty funny, and the Cuba Gooding Jr./Horatio Sanz pairing should draw in a few. I see about a $6 million opening and a $15 million finish.

I also think that Chicago, Gangs Of New York, The Hours, Lord Of The Rings and The Pianist will all have huge increases this weekend because of Oscars.

- agree with you guys on Dreamcatcher: approx. $28 million
- the 'sleeper hit' Boat Trip will open with (surprise! surprise!) $12.6 million. People love stupid movies ;)
- Piglet's Big Movie: $8.2 million
- View From the Top ...dunno, but I have a bad feeling about this one: $4.8 million

However, DREAMCATCHER should definitely hold better than BLADE 2, which suffered big drops in the weeks after its opening weekend. Which is mainly due to the "built-in-audience" rushing to see it opening weekend. Plus, horror movies and sequels "usually" see big drops.

**************MY PREDICTIONS**************

1. DREAMCATCHER - 29.5 MILLION
2. BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE - 14.4 MILLION
3. AGENT CODY BANKS - 9.8 MILLION
4. CHICAGO - 8.9 MILLION
5. THE HUNTED - 6.8 MILLION
6. A VIEW FROM THE TOP - 6.7 MILLION
7. PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE - 6 MILLION
8. OLD SCHOOL - 4.7 MILLION
9. TEARS OF THE SUN - 4.3 MILLION
10. BOAT TRIP - 4 MILLION
11. HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS - 3.3 MILLION
12. WILLARD - 2 MILLION
13. THE PIANIST - 1.56 MILLION
14. THE HOURS - 1.5 MILLION
15. DAREDEVIL - 1.5 MILLION
16. THE JUNGLE BOOK 2 - 1.4 MILLION
17. ABOUT SCHMIDT - 1.2 MILLION
18. CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE - 1.2 MILLION
19. LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS - 1.1 MILLION
20. THE QUIET AMERICAN - 1 MILLION
21. SHANGHAI KNIGHTS - 0.9
22. GANGS OF NEW YORK - 0.57
23. FINAL DESTINATION 2 - 0.4
24. ADAPTATION - 0.37

Due to the war stuff going on right now, I'm thinking THE HUNTED and TEARS OF THE SUN could have some pretty good sized declines. I think audiences will probably be in the mood for something a little more "light" and less violent. I was originally predicting around 8 Million for THE HUNTED this next weekend, but now my prediction has dropped to 6.8 Million.

I would have thought that too, but I'm not too sure because after the Sept. 11 attacks people were renting Die Hard and The Siege alot.

I'm wondering if DREAMCATCHER is going to open quite as big this weekend as I originally predicted. With the war going on, a lot of people (especially adults) will be staying home and watching their TV sets. And with an "R" rating and violent content, this may not be the best time to release it. A lot of the adults that might have went to see it probably won't be going anywhere this weekend. I'm now not quite sure what it will open with. I'm thinking it could see 24.4 Million for the weekend, instead of the 29.5 Million I originally predicted. Yet, I wouldn't be too surprised if it pulled in only 19-20 Million. I think the war will definitely hurt its chances some.

Anyway, I made a few little changes in my predictions for the weekend, so here's my updated predictions:

1. DREAMCATCHER - 24.4 MILLION
2. BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE - 14.4 MILLION
3. AGENT CODY BANKS - 9.8 MILLION
4. CHICAGO - 8.4 MILLION
