I know many of you have probably seen this Tv Movie. Everytime I watch it, I ask myself what the heck is up with those Deadlights, what are they? And also, Pennywise the clown is he one scary SOB or what?

its kinda confusing to try to explain it to u. the best thing i could do is to tell u to read the book. that explains what they are. im acctually surprised they didnt dump that part of the book from the movie cuz they dumped the rest of that subplot including the ending. tim curry is soooo freakin awesome as pennywise. the movie isnt scary but he comes damn close!

BEEP BEEP, Ritchie!
You know, I usually hate when they cut one of King's books down to make a movie, but I actually enjoyed IT and will be getting the DVD come October.

Yeah, Pennywise was great and the book rocked.
As for the deadlights.. Those are key to the essence of what IT really is behind all the shapes and masks... Though in the book the light is a dark orange color.

An ever better question for those who have read the book....who is The Turtle?

Tim Curry kicks serious ass as Pennywise the Clown... as for the rest of the movie? It was OK, the scene in the library with the balloons was very well done, but what's up with the ending? Was that in the book? A spider? Was that not the lamest ending ever?

Spoilers!! Spoilers for IT!

It was in the book ... but very VERY different, The Spider is the closet thing to IT's true form that the human mind can perceive. What it actually looks like is this, taken directly from the book.
''For a moment he saw into It's eyes, saw what IT really was: An Endless crawling hairy thing made up of dead orange light, corpse light that mocked life''.
In the book the battle was purely psychological, Bill's mind Vs IT's. It's difficult to accurately transcribe.

hehe. I've read many of King's books and still have no idea. Perhaps It's God? Or something very close to it, In IT it is revealed that the Turtle created the Universe so..

As I have posted many times IT ROCKS!!! It's my favorite horror movie, containing great performances and creepy moments, and I can't wait until the DVD is released. Tim Curry does an awesome job as Pennywise, who gave me weeks of nightmares after I first saw IT. I definetly recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen it.

I assumed the great Turtle was some "higher being" as well...the weird thing is I remember when IT told Bill that the Turtle had choked on the galaxies or something like that...I kept on thinking "poor turtle..."

Yeah, That was such a strange moment, The final clash with IT is probably one of the most surreal battles in all of bookdom, I loved it http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif.

the book was so kewl but man that ending! that was so kewl but i understand why it was changed for the flick cuz the books ending is almost impossible to translate into images. IT is truley a classic in the world of horror.

I'm just wondering, in the ending. Was that the heart they all were holding up in the air of the monster? I know that was a pretty gory part.

Yes it was, In the book Bill Crushes the heart with his hands, so that was slightly altered. Probably to add visual flair.

I just watched this movie again, and I was bored to death with it. I think it is terrible, I guess.

This movie sucked major ass. Pennywise is one fucked up clown. He is scary as hell and his voice is wierd as hell "Hey Georgie" man thats some scary shite. it's way to long. There are only like 3 kills and they are off screen. 2/10

I didn't find the clown scary at all, but he was the best part of the film, for sure. The late 80s/early 90s fashion certainly isn't something to marvel at, either.

i just rewatched this on sci fi channel last week or so.....
it still fukcing sucks!!!!!!!
all the more reason to read the book.the book is like the bible of stephen king.
the movie is pure shit.you will never feel the impact of pennywise watching the movie-he is too contrived and corny.
what is scary about IT is the imagery your own mind makes up.
there is no way on god's green earth you can take 1200 pages of fine storytelling and cram it into a 4 hour TV movie.
this film is an insult to mr.king and all his devoted fans.

I really enjoyed this movie! Considering it was made for television, where violence and gore can be very restricted, I thought it did an excellent job. Personally, I feel that IT reflects a more modern-day equivlant of how horror can be scary with lots of violence and gore. (The Others would be another one). Or maybe it's just because I find clowns really scary!!!

Yes, this movie really traumatised me when I was 5. I wouldnt go near the sewers, and everytime I saw a clown...I ran away. And when I watch it today, it still gives me the creeps. I cant believe Tim Curry could play such an EVIL character!

I've seen the movie numerous times (about once a week for almost a year) and i love it. the acting is a little corny as well as some of the visual. But it's still a great movie. One of those movies you throw in when your bored

I enjoyed the movie but have been reading the book and have to agree the book (as in most cases) makes the movie look like shit. I hope (whether I do it or someone else) that IT gets remade closer to the book. I don't care if it's on TV (ala THE SHINING which made me cringe in parts...like when DeMorney got hit in the stomach with the mallet) or a condensed version like 3 hours or 3 1/2 theatrical. There is way to much they needed to add and some of the side stories would work as films by themselves.
And on another note...I heard the movie was changed from the book so as to reflect John Wayne Gacy and something else..I can't remember because I heard it when the movie first was on TV. Probably just a rumor.

I bought the book ages ago and have never got round to reading t. However have seen the film about three times in a span of about 5 years and the book has been sitting there for even longer :D . I thought the film was very good and yes the clown is freaky when i was small the film scared me and has probably effected my opinions on clowns for life.

It took me a long time to read the book, but I thought it was great. The movie was much different then the book, because the movie left out a lot of parts. Also, I think the movie could have been better if it wasn't made for TV. And the ending was totally corny. I mean come on! But on a lighter note, Tim Curry was one freaky mother fucker!
