View Full Version : Does the season influence what you listen to?

For me it sometimes does. In the summer I seem to listen to more thrash & death metal, punk and hardcore, because the artists come from warm areas and the music is faster.
Whereas in the winter it seems to be more scandanavian metal and industrial because the music is darker and the artists come from cold areas.

Is there anyone else that has their listening determined by the season your in?

Not usually. I live in Florida where there are two seasons: Warm and hot.

Though, in the summer, I am more likely to listen to poppy punk than any other season.

There's always some annoyingly chirpy summer hit which gets stuck in my head and is impossible to avoid on tv, in clubs etc. :D

Last summer: the Ketchup Song or Shooting Star (can't remember who this is by).

Other summer "classics": Summer Girls - LFO
Groovejet - Spiller

Other than that I'm fairly indie all year round :)

i listen to the same mix of punk, rock and metal all year round. although it depends more on my day overall than the season.

Well if its rainy I tend to listen to more "rainy type mood music" and if its sunny I tend to blare more wahooo time to play music so i guess the seasons do affect my music choices.....Never thought about that factor before... interesting thread topic.

For some reason during the winter I play depressing music.....or The Clash for some weird reason. Maybe it's because the band is from London, and from what I hear London can be rather depressing this time of year.

A timely thread.

It finally got nice in Chicago this weekend. It was probably almost 60 on sunday.

It was nice to drive around with the windows down. It definately effected my music choice. There are some albums that just sound so much better when its nice out. The funkier and more upbeat the better.

Well let's see. During the spring and summer I take my stereo outdoors to listen a lot more. So my musical tastes usually do differ just a little bit. I try to use some discretion. I'm sure my eighty something year old neighbor wouldn't like hearing The Plaugue Rages by Napalm Death at eleven o clock at night but according to her Smashmouth and some of the ligher punk rock stuffs fine with her as long as I keep it down a bit.
