They don't have to be in order, but if they are, no harm done :]
I am sure people will disagree with others, but don't worry about it.
Also, you can do up to 5, if you like
Basically, name your fav. top 5 guitarists, the band(s) they were in, and some solos for others to check out and see what they are all about.
(Not in order, except first choice)
1.David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) - Comfortably Numb, Time, Another Brick in the Wall
2.Tom Morello (Rage against the machine, Audioslave) - Guerilla Radio
3.Jimi Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix Experience) - Purple Haze, Fire, Standing Next to A Mountain

The top two aren't in any band, so all their stuff is solos. Just take your pick.

This thread makes me feel old, but here's my list:
1) John McLaughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Best solo: If I had to pick one, I'd say The Noonward Race.
2) Frank Zappa, Mothers of Invention. Best solo: Muffin Man.
3) Jimi Hendrix, the Experience. Best solo: All Along the Watchtower.
Special mentions:
Prince - Let's Go Crazy and Darling Nikki
Vernon Reid, Living Color - Cult of Personality
