O.K. I just finished about a half an hours research about the history of this band and on to why I've never heard of this band playing live. I just picked up their first ep and their first full length album and it reawoke my passion for the neutral milk hotels brilliant music.

Well if anyone cares this is what i found out... jeff Magnum the head honcho behind NMH has sort of turned his back on the music world. he stated he wants to walk a different path for awhile and has done so for the past 3 years. The only thing he has recorded since the amazing aeroplane over the sea album was a live cd under his name Jeff Magnum (Which I am ordering as soon as possible) and a bulgarian folk festival cd he made a short time ago after falling in love with bulgarian folk music. Well he pulled a leanord cohen on me dissapearing and washing away any hope that I might have had to catch him live but I respect the man for it. Neutral milk hotel was met with wordly acclaim and he just walked away from it. Well I thought I would just post the info I found out about this elusive band.. I know a few schmoes have been getting into them recently. Oh and On avery island while not being as good as Aeroplane over the sea is still fucking awesome. The Ep Everything is... is good too but alot more rough cut.

As you know, bowieee, I got into Neutral Milk Hotel a little bit before I started posting on the boards, and I absolutely adore the sound. It's entirely authentic and original, the lyrics, heartbreaking, and the feel is 100% wonderful!

A GREAT discovery for those who enjoy them.

I got into them about a few weeks back, thanks to some people on this board...and I must say, the schtuff I've heard so far is bloody marvelous. I haven't got the album yet, but I've downloaded a bunch of songs that really are worth the price of an album, if I could just find that sucker somewhere.

Amazon.com is by far the greatest cd store ever. You can find everything there.

Something odd--

A pal of mine who I had never spoken to about Neutral Milk Hotel just told me that his friend is friends with the people in Neutral Milk Hotel. I'm vicariously star struck, and a bit surprised at the VERY weird coincidence (this kid mainly likes Pink Floyd, Zepplin, and get this, showtunes)
