willard was cut

I was shown a workprint of this movie, and it has been edited for most of the gore and the ending totaly changed.
the orginal feature was an R.

I think just about every PG-13 teen comedy and/or every PG-13 action flick that comes out now is modified from it's original R script. I know Daredevil had to go through (3?) cuts before it was given a PG-13....

While I do hope to see the filmmaker's original cut one day, I believe "Willard" is a film that does not need gore. It is not about the rats killing people, as New Line implied in their crappy trailers and TV spots. It is about Willard the man and his failing relationships with humans which leads to him befriending the rodents. That's the main plot, and it is fascinating enough without throwing in loads and loads of gore to keep the moviegoers' attention.

I did notice some stuff cut out that I saw in the trailer. For instance, I don't remember Willard saying, "Nothing goes right..." in the basement, and I don't recall the "Willard, let's go drink" scene as part of the picture.
