Why do a lot of people find IT as a great film? Why do people think its scary? Clowns are an American institution!! They're not scary at all!

Yeah I too only think IT is so-so, the book was much better. Many things about the movie were bad and many important things from the book were left out, I don't hate it but it's certainly not a masterpiece it's just well...a TV movie.

i know it was only made for tv, but that doesnt mean its mediocre. I know the book was way better and i have stated that in other posts, but this is a movie i truly love. it makes perfect sense to use a clown. kids love clowns and if a clown wanted to give me a balloon i would take it. i know they have to leave some stuff out because of time. i also believe it would have better if it were a movie made for theatres. but i also appreciate the simpleness of it. the cast is great and tim curry is always a great villian. just because its not "a clockwork orange" (whatever the hell that was about) or taxi driver or even the shinning doesnt mean its a dumb made for tv movie.....yvonne

Yvonne don't thake it the wrong way. I like Tim Curry and I like the fact (sort of) that they used a clown as the main villian (until the end when it got REALLY lame) But the fact is that most people who thought the movie was scary, they only thought it was scary because it was a clown. I love clowns /ubb/smile.gif How could a clown be scary thats what I want to know. Also, IT has no relation whatsoever to A Clockwork Orange.

Ya yvonne I didn't hate it, and I like the idea of using the clown. But come on I definetly don't think it was scary and the ending I mean Mr.Meat has it right it's really lame, **SPOILER** A giant spider is that all they could think of I mean it's just stupid. **END OF SPOILER** as for the rest of the movie I think it's ok. As for the Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver thing Meat's right absolutely no relation.

I remember reading the book a while back and thinking that it was great, one of my faves from King, and the movies was okay, but Quentin, can you remind me what the IT was in the book? I can't find it anywhere.

I read the book about eight years ago and in the end they defeated a giant spider. I have never seen the film, but I guess it was loyal to the book...
