Anyone else here like In Flames? I think they are one of the best metal bands around and the best "Gothenberg" band.
Bijorn Gelotte and Jesper Stromblad rank among my favorite guitar duos. Anders Friden is also a pretty good vocalist that changes in sound with each album. I like his voice on Jester Race the most, and the vocals seem to be weakest on Reroute to Remain, the are good there, but a little nu-metallish.
Album wise Jester Race and Clayman are the ones I admire the most. All the albums are good in there own way. Reroute to Remain may have dissapointed fans, but I like it. Sure it may be a little more cathcy and mainstream, but the album still sported good guitar music and good vocals.
All in all, this is a great band. For those whom haven't heard of them and are interested I recommend the following songs that span all their albums (except Lunar Strain):
December Flower
Moonshield
Gryoscope
Food for the Gods
Embody the Invisible
Bullet Ride
Only for the Weak
Cloud Connected

I never got into this band at all. Alot of metalheads love them though, so they must be doing something right. For me, Soilwork and Dark Tranquility are much better alternative for the modern Gothenburg sound, and then of course there are all of the classic At the Gates albums. Overall, melodic-death is one of my least listened to metal genres. One thing that In Flames did that I really liked though was their cover of Depeche Mode's Everything Counts.

In Flames have been dying a slow, painful death, but I dig Colony and The Jester Race. What I've heard off of Reroute to Remain has been shoddy. Anders shouldn't even bother with clean vocals. I'd rather him stick to shrieking and whispering.

I saw the haunted last week, and they ruled!!!, in flames kind of bore me now, My fav. CD is the jester race and my fav. song is December flower. Soilworks Natural born chaos kinda sucked compared to the masterful chainheart machine and the epical a predators portrait.

You're right, it did. And their newest one is even worse. Both them and In Flames have been on a major decline, but I was at least appreciative of Soilwork to begin with. In Flames definitely had talent as well, and I recognize that, I just never got into them like as much as Soilwork.

Well, at least Dark Tranquility isn't straying away from their roots. Soilwork's new album is bad. But they all feel rushed when I listen to them. I await the new In Flames album, I hope it is good but I fear it will be bad.
And on the subject of bands changing their sound and getting fans nervous....Meshuggah.

Yeah, 'Nothing' left me very disappointed. I love 'Chaosphere' and 'Destroy Erase Improve' though.

'Rusted Angel' was a great album. After that they became decent but not great.

If you haven't yet check out AT THE GATES immediatly - right now I'm listening to their killer full-length debut "The Red in the sky is ours".
I've listened to some of IN FLAMES work, (from the Lunar Strain & Jester Race records) but I was far from being blown away. Sounds like Walt Disney doing deathmetal, kinda. I'm well aware that this band is liked by lots of people but their stuff doesn't really do anything for me, I'm afraid.
Check out the following albums if you're into IN FLAMES you might just dig 'em:
-Necroticism by Carcass ( Now THAT'S guitar-work!)
-Symbolic by Death (R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner - this guy ruled!)
-Slaughter of the Soul by At the Gates (think In Flames done right)

Heh, the band "the haunted" which i saw has two members from at the gates, the two brothers. Needless to say they are awesome (not as much as at the gates).
@bloodfeaster, i think Darkane is one of the best bands to come out of the metal scene there in ages.
