All of last week's Top 10 debuts maintained their spots this week with J.Lo at #1 with MAID IN MANHATTAN taking in $1,530,398, A.J. Cook and Ali Larter at #2 with FINAL DESTINATION 2 taking in $674,023 and Adrien Brody's Oscar nominated turn at #9 in THE PIANIST taking in $358,053. Their respective totals are now $5,426,851, $1,956,073 and $1,060,249. CHICAGO continues its yoyo in the Top 5, after 8 weeks in release it has $14,659,115 to its name. Denzel Washington's directorial debut took in to #10 with ANTWONE FISHER making $336,926. The Australian comedy YOU CAN'T STOP THE MURDERS, about a small town dealing with a series of mysterious deaths that bare some resemblance to members of the village people, made $135,987. The brazilian drama CITY OF GOD has caused quite a stir but also a series of near-perfect reviews to beat out fellow gangsta flick KNOCKAROUND GUYS. The Vin Diesel vehicle made $75,583 next to CITY OF GOD's $122,268. Mark Wahlberg's turn in Demme's THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE failed to make much of an impression on audiences, missing the Top 20, therefore making less than $61,600 in its first week.
THIS WEEK (20th MARCH): The Ben Affleck action movie DAREDEVIL alongside Jennifer Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan and scene stealer Colin Farrell will no doubt be the successor to knock his fiancee Lopez off the top spot, as it doesn't have much competition in the lesser publicised and lesser exposed to cinema rivals, DOG SOLDIERS, THE EMPEROR'S CLUB, TUCK EVERLASTING and BELOW.
