I'm most probably going to purchase a DVD player soon. The movies i wanted to see for a very long time could not be found in my local videostore (I live in Cyprus - that should tell you enough [no offence if there are any Cypriot or Greek ppl on the board])
I'm asking you guys who own the movies on Dvd or know that there are these movies to be purchased on Dvd to please tell me:

Most of u guys should know these films:

Movies like: The Third Man (d. Carol Reed)
Rashomon (d. Akira Kurosawa)
The Seven Samurai (d. Kurosawa)
Mutiny On The Bounty (d. Frank Lloyd)
Citizen Kane (d. Orson Welles)

and the list goes on but i think u get the picture.

Thanks. /ubb/smile.gif /ubb/smile.gif

Don't know about all of them, but Criterion do an edition of the Seven Samurai, which is Region 1 and there is also a British (Region 2) version, although that has ugly text menus. The Third Man has just been release as a Region 1 special edition with loads of extras, don't think there is a Region 2 version...

Yeah...the Criterion Collection released both "The Third Man" and "The Seven Samurai" on DVD...I have never seen Rashomon on DVD but it can be purchased in letterboxed VHS on the Janus Films Group Inc. label...There is info on Janus Films on the Criterion Collection website...just search Criterion Collection...most of Kurosawa's stuff is available through them, but also "Yojimbo" & "Sanjuro" are available on Criterion and Kurosawa's "RAN" is on DVD as well through different distribution...

I have never seen "Citizen Kane" on DVD, but that is only because Ted Turner purchased the rights through Turner Classic Movies and has only released it as a VHS tape on his TCM label...

"Mutiny On The Bounty" has not been released on DVD either except as the Charles Laughton version...on, I believe, Columbia Classics...a division of Columbia-TriStar...
