I purchased the "American Psycho" Unrated Version and have yet to notice the difference from the R-rated version...It has been a while since I saw the R-rated version in a theater...I assume that the unrated version is what the original NC-17 rating had to cut to make an R-rated film...does any body know what the difference in "American Psycho" is?
note: A friend of mine mentioned the threeway sex scene is the only difference in the two versions...I guess maybe they cut out some stuff...he may be right but i just don't know...
Anyways, I have waited a long time for this one on DVD because it had such a limited release time in theaters...it has the trailers, making of and Christian Bale interview...I still think it is the best male performance of the year...real risk-taking work from Bale...not many actors would risk their careers with a character who hates everybody, is a racist, serial killer AND a yuppie...
I really dig the scene where he is working out while "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" blares out loud from the TV...also the "Inside Lydia" porn box has an actress named Misty Rain on the cover...

The R-rated version cut out footage of Christian Bale admiring himself (very funnily) in the mirror during the threeway scene...

I am so fucking pissed...when I got my DVD of "American Psycho" home it was all scratched and skipped, and the case was broken on the inside...so I took it back to the goddamn store and they told me to replace it with another...I went back and grabbed one and it sounded funny like there was a broken piece inside...and there was and all 27 copies were fucked-up in the same manner, so I got a fucking refund and now I have to go buy at some other asshole store...piece of shit...they knew they were broken yet they put them out for sale...I will mention their mother-fucking name...BEST BUY SUCKS...

What is the violence/sexual content in the Nc-17 rated version? I don't know if my mom will approve of it or not.

After another viewing this weekend, I figured ou the difference in the unrated and r-rated versions...
1. an extra shot of blood pooling in the Paul Allen/Owen axe killing sequence.
2. a bunch of extra three-way sex shots w/more positions and posing from Bale
and that's it...it is amazing to me just how ludicrous the NC-17 rating is...reminds me of how the MPAA made P.T. Anderson cut the scenes with Nina Hartley, in "Boogie Nights", talking while showing sex, they wouldn't let her talk and have sex at the same time and still give it an r-rating...so she had to stop humping then talk then start humping again (got the humping phrase from P.T. himself...).

Thanks for sharing Bob...hey, that reminds me of the testicular cancer meeting in "Fight Club" with Ed Norton and Meatloaf aka Bob aka Bitch Tits Bob aka Male Bra Bob aka droopy (hence, thanks for sharing Bob.)
...your mom would definitely not approve of "American Psycho" unless she is a chain-smoking anti-feminist bull-dyke who enjoys long walks on the beach during a sunset and skinning baby seals while watching a past due rental of midget porn while snacking on fried McPuppyNuggets and cheezy poofs and chugging Clamato juice and sucking on a three-month old Mentos, the freshmaker!
So run out and find what we call...an "enabler". This is a down on his luck bum who will blow you for a quarter. Give him money to buy you the film, cigarettes, alcohol, whatever...but make sure to watch him carefully so he doesn't blow it on a bottle of "fire-water"...
