Yes Blockbastard sux major cock, and they edit many films on video in America. If you rent Scarface, NBK, Damage, Bad Lieutenant (even the R version, which is edited enough as it is), and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer you will notice at times the tape simply goes to blue screen, this is a blockbuster employ simply sticking a piece of tape on the record tab and recording over it with a blank blue screen. I'm sure if Brian, Ollie, Louis, Abel, and Johnny knew about this they would hold their films from being rented in edited format, but most people just accept it (aka take it up the ass). As you can tell I REALLY hate Blockbuster, so this may be just a wee bit biased, but that is just WRONG.

Out of all the movies I have ever rented at Blockbuster, not one of them has been edited. You name it, it aint edited at the Broadway location /ubb/smile.gif And I know that they don't carry anything over R

A buddy of mine went into Blockbuster once and asked where their FOREIGN movies were. The guy working thought he said PORN and went off on a big tangent of how Blockbuster (the franchise) is owned by some christian family, and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah from there. While I've never seen an edited tape from them, it's probably all tied together I'm guessing. Or maybe that was all bullshit - who knows...

You guys keep saying that none of the movies you've rented from Blockbuster have been edited... HOW WOULD YOU KNOW!!! Trust me, a huge number of the movies are edited and the decision is not made at each location, if it's edited at one location it's edited at all of them. I myself have never worked there, thank God, but several friends have and still do as well my sister manages a location, they all confirm that the films are viewed by a central commitee and scenes that do not "reflect the moral stature of the Blockbuster clientel" are removed. I recently rented the DVD of American Psycho and was relieved to see that not only was it not edited, it was also not the American censored version (hope you guys know your gov't censors more than any other "democratic" nation I know of, but was instead the internation version which is as the director, Mary Harron, wanted it. p.s. I am Canadian.

Well they don't edit in the UK (unlike the TV stations)... aside from anything else, they're not allowed to! The BBFC and distribution company are the only people allowed by law to edit films for any kind of home video release in Britain. And yes I would know if they're edited because usually I will have seen the uncut versions at a film festival or on DVD first...
Quentin - the blue screen thing is what happens (depending on the distributors) when someone tries to copy the tape illegally, because Blockbuster is kinda busy they don't have time to check through all the tape when checking in... Although virtually all my experience is in the UK, I rented Henry from Blockbuster in the US and didn't have that problem at all...
Sounds like alot of the problems here are from big corportion deciding what films they will stock (which happens with ALL large rental chains) plus experiences with staff...

No that is not someone trying to copy them, it has no affect on the tape when someone tries to copy the tapes. I have talked to people who used to work and even 1 who currently works at Block Buster that say they do this, and Roger Ebert has done reports on it. It is always an "objectionable" scene that is edited also that further proves it is not just someone trying to copy the tape.
