That pleases me so much. Dreamcatcher (9/10) is a kick-ass film, while Bringing Down The House (6/10) is mediocre. The best film is on top. :) It is still depressing to see Daredevil (10/10) and Willard (9/10) out of the top ten, though. :(

Ive seen 6 movies this year and nothing above a 7.5/10.
I wanted to love Dreamcatcher but it took a lameish twist and it ended up being a mediocre 6.5/10 maybe 7/10 after it soaks in but the ending was just yucky

This week's three new major openers suprised me! Head of State and Basic will have solid openings, but The Core bombed. It surely cost quite a lot of money, and I am sure Paramount wanted an opening bigger than about 10 million. I was expecting a MUCH larger opening myself. This is even more proof that in the time of war, people crave situation comedies not sci-fi flicks (The Core and Dreamcatcher). If the war goes on longer than expected, I wonder if this'll affect the box office runs of films like The Matrix Reloaded, T3: Rise of the Machines, and The Hulk, and will it help films like Bruce Almighty, Finding Nemo, and Anger Management. Hmmm..... This should be a very interesting for B.O. enthusiasts.

I am kinda surprised that Head of State beat both The Core and Basic. But this trend will not effect box office #'s for Matrix and T3, I guarentee that!
WOW! The Core bombed big time... I never thought it would have such a little opening, at least not THIS little. One big reason though is because of the war. I don't think people feel like seeing a disaster flick with earth getting destroyed. People just aren't really in the mood for violent flicks at this time. Comedies and "light" movies are definitely the "it" thing right now.
Spirited Away didn't do too well. I predicted it would make around 3 Million this weekend, but I wonder if it will even make that. If it does, it will have to have one hell of an increase on Saturday.
Poor Willard :(... It was crushed like a rat this weekend ;). It lost almost all of its theaters, which is going to result in a very small gross. Maybe it will be able to make at least $300,000 this weekend, which is still horrible. I think it will be one of the most underrated films of the year.
Anyway, here's my pretty terrible prediction for HEAD OF STATE at Lee's Movie Info:
Friday - 5.4 Million
Saturday - 6.8 Million
Sunday - 4.7 Million
Total - 16.9 Million
I won't even come close to winning again, wow, big surprise  ;)...
Here's my NOT ANYWHERE NEAR CLOSE prediction for THE CORE:
Friday - 9.2 Million
Saturday - 10.9 Million
Sunday - 7.1 Million
Man do I suck!
And here's my "not so great" prediction for BASIC:
Friday - 5.1 Million
Saturday - 6.7 Million
Sunday - 3.7 Million
Total - 15.5 Million

Oh my. It'll be lucky to get $10.9 million in total this weekend. But don't be embarrassed, that's around why I predicted too.

Well at least I'm not alone... I think it should pull in around 11 Million this weekend, which is "only" 16.2 Million less than I predicted----I guess I wasn't too far off afterall ;)... Anyway, one thing's for sure, it should do much better on video...

I disagree, very, very, very much.
I've always believed that current events in the world aren't what help or hurt movies box-office wise. Personally, I think it all has to do with marketing. The Core wasn't marketed very well plus the trailers didn't make it look too appealing. And alien and sci-fi disaster flicks are a LOT different than the war that is currently going on, I think the general audience is smart enough to make that distinction. IMO alien flicks are a GREAT escape from reality especially in times like this.
Trust me, I 110% assure you, that Bruce Almighty, Finding Nemo, and Anger Management may do good in box office, but will NEVER touch the box office runs of Reloaded, T3, Hulk, and X2.

I disagree. I think many people who would go see a film may stay at home to watch the war developments on the television. And, even if you think otherwise, I believe people may want a comedy (Head of State) over a brutal war film (Basic) at times like this.

I seriously doubt the "war" with Iraq had any impact on the box office - if it did, it was small. The Core's trouble is that it looks exactly like every disaster flick from the last few years. Basic has garnered very poor reviews, which probably explains its situation.

I'm so happy Willard stayed out of the top ten.... :p I'm also happy about Bringing Down The House (8.5/10) only dropping to number 2! And it crossed the 100 million mark, woo-hoo! I do wish The Core (7/10) would have grossed more, it definitley deserved the number 1 spot more than Head of State (6/10)...

I agree with you completely! Current events definitely have a part in deciding how well a movie does at the Box Office. With the war, people really don't feel like going to see a violent film. They want to escape and laugh. Why would someone who's constantly hearing about the war want to go and see some serious/violent movie? People can say what they want, but the war is definitely playing a part in the Box Office numbers.
And I actually thought that The Core was marketed pretty damn well for a disaster flick, certainly better than most. If it would have been released in the summer and marketed the same way, it would have done much better.

You should actually give Willard a chance before you diss it like that. It's actually a very great film, and it's not like what you may think it is. It's more character-driven than horror.
