Once in a while things happen in sports that just crack you up. What are some of your fave funny moments?
For me it was seeing Alexei Urmanov skate a very dramatic number to Phantom of the Opera a couple of years back. Urmanov wears a mask, so essentially he's half blind, and he also wears this loooooong ass cape. During his number he tosses his cape in the middle of the ice rink, and continues to skate. I was just wondering if the inevitable would happen, and Urmanov didn't disappoint me. He dramatically skates towards the center of the rink, and being he blinded himself with the mask, he trips and falls over his own cape. LMAO! Ok, I hate to laugh at someone's misfortune, but this guys was just asking for it. Ah, good times, good times.

The funniest thing I ever saw, was about 5 years back when the Knicks were playing their rivals the Miami Heat. When a fight broke out and Jeff Van Gundy tried to jump in a pull people apart and he ended up on the ground hanging onto Mourning's leg. That was hysterical.
I kinda felt bad for Vandy, you could tell he cared about his players, but he came off looking like such a dork.

A funny thing happened after the Iowa/Minnesota football game this past fall. The game was in the Metrodome, but Iowa fans just flocked to the game by the thousands and outnumbered the home team's fans about 2 to 1, that's kind of funny in itself, but that's not the point here.
After the huge Hawkeye victory, the fans stormed the field and tore down the home team's goal posts, also funny, but not the main point I'm making.
My fellow Hawk fan's actually made an attempt to take the goal post off the playing field and carry it outside the Metrodome as souveneir of victory, uh.... not going to happen. Even if they did somehow manage to get it off the field and up through the Metrodme hallways, the Dome has revolving door exits.:D
An "A" for effort however.

Those are both very funny, guys. Keep 'em coming! :)
I just remembered one that really amused me. This was at the very beginning of the season after Dallas had won the Cup in 1999, Pat Verbeek had no contract. So he was guest hosting NHL2Night. During the program he very humbly said:"I have no contract. Will someone please sign me?" The way he said it, you just felt bad for the guy, but at the same time it was very funny. But not as funny as when the program was concluding. The camera was on Verbeek, he was just supposed to say goodnight, and then the camera was going to move sideways so you could see Verbeek's profile. Well, the little ball of hate ended up looking, smiling and turning his head as the camera was moving to get the side angle. Verbeek looked so dorky, it was obvious he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing. I kinda felt bad for him, but at the same time that program still makes me smile. It endeared Pat Verbeek to me. :)

The classic: Jose Conseco bouncing the ball off his head and over the wall for a homerun. The fact that he's such a jerk makes it hilarious. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Dammit!
Thanks for reminding me. Classic moment. Wish it would've happened to Bonds.;)

Seeing Mike Stanton wiggle his ass while batting at Coors Field last season was pretty fuckin' funny. I guess any American League pitcher trying to swing a bat and run the bases is amusing...

Oldie but a goodie- Jim Marshall running the wrong way for what he thought was an apparent touchdown for the Vikings, but really ending up being a safety against them.
Joe Paterno chasing down a referee and giving him what for after the loss to Iowa last year in Happy Valley, Joe Pa's still got incredible speed for being in his seventies.:)
Bobby Knight's emotional tantrum of throwing a chair out on the court in the Indiana/Purdue basketball game years ago.

when wolves beat gillingham 6-0,. the mexican wave was hysterically lop-sided lol. that just cracked me up. good to see the gills fans joining in. of course, the fact we won 6-0 also raised a smile heh.
for some reason i also find streakers quite funny. especially the guy who did it not long back at a wolves game. although, what really got people laughing was the fact that he was more like half a streaker if you get my meaning ;)

I remember seeing an NBA game on T.V, and during that game the referee tripped and fell over once while running across the court.

I forgot this one. Chris Webber's brain fart in the national championship game. Laughed my ass off.:D:D:D
In this season, someone checked Dan Hinote into the boards so hard that Hinote's stick flew into the air. However, Hinote caught it on the way back down, got the puck, and started the play the other way! It wasn't really funny, just one of those things in sports that makes you smile.

Nick Bakay's weekly segment on SportsCenter. This guy just cracks me up for some reason.:D The way he always bitches about losing his bets during football season always puts a smile on my face. Jeez, doesn't he EVER win? I wish I would have seen the one where his wife was on and hit it big.:D

Two Words: Bill Grammatica!
The Cardinals Placekicker suffered a season-ending injury last year when he stubbed his toe while doing a victory dance after making a field goal.
Also, I found it funny when Mike Piazza had to hold a press conference to prove his heterosexuality!
One time though, my friend was at a Yankees game, and Rivera had just given up the winning hit or something like that. But anyways, the guy next to him was so pissed (and so drunk) that he tore the seat off in front of him!

You guys are cracking me up, keep 'em coming!
Ok, this one was a long time ago, back when I lived in Ohio...it was at the old Cleveland stadium. I went to an Indians game, and I sat in the cheap seats all the way in the outfield. That place was so filthy, there were newspapers flying, peanut shells and all kinds of garbage all over the place, lots of rowdy fans, and one of them, sounding very drunk, kept on shouting: "ALCOHOL! ALCOHOL!" I didn't think he needed any more alcohol. ;)
Anyhoo, that still cracks me up, and memories of the old Cleveland stadium still give me warm and fuzzy feelings.

Hmmm, this next little gem could fit many categories, "Most embarrasing sports moment", "schmoe sporting injuries", but mostly it's just funny, or at least other people thought it was, so here it is.
I used to play some slow pitch softball and we oftentimes had double headers that were staggered starts where we would have to wait around an hour or two in between games. Needless to say there was a few beers consumed. Our team was warming up on an empty diamond and I was on the mound practically seeing double. I made the comment to our hitters, "Don't hit any right back at me..." I think you can see where this is going. :D
The absoute next pitch was a one hop rocket back to the mound which I managed to get a glove on and deflect right into my face. Oh, the carnage! Blood squirting everywhere and I had to drive myself to the emergency room because they were afraid our team would be short a player for the game if someone took me! What great guys.:D
A couple hours and eight stitches to the lip later I still made it to the bar for drinks after the emergency room visit. It's one of the great stories we still tell to this day. Only time in my life I've drank beer through a straw.

PJ...where did you dig up that old thread? ;)
I saw one recently at the gymnastics world championships. One of the American female gymnasts forgot to put her number on her leotard before she competed, so everyone from her team was just scrambling to find her number. (She would've been penalized if she wasn't wearing her number.)They couldn't find it, she was frantic, so they ended up pinning a piece of paper with the number written on it to her leotard. The paper was just flopping around during her routine, I was just waiting for it to completely tear off..I'm not sure this was as funny as it was bizarre.

Seeing some guy fall into the net behind home plate at Yankee Stadium was a good one. The guy couldnt get out and left his wallet behind. ahhh the power of beer.
And I have to give my obvious Red Sox bias funny momeny, when a few of the players taped Pedro to a poll in the dugout. He looked like the Mummy.

One off the top of my head was yesterday during the Cubs/Brewers game. The camera cut to Kenny Lofton in the dugout and he had this really stupid looking smile on his face, and he turned around and grabbed Randall Simon and they did this weird little hand-slapping routine to celebrate Simons first homerun of the game. The minuted the camera cut to Kenny he was looking at it smiling, like he was waiting and I instantly said 'Oh no, whats Kenny up too."
Its good to see guys not take everything so serious all the time and lighten up and have fun. Makes the games funner for everyone.

According to the NCAA officially that game never happened. Making it all irrelevant. At leasts thats my story and I'm sticking to it. (Good god I just quoted a country song...whats next chewing skoal and drink PBR) :D
Some other funny moments I can think of...
This entire season by the Detroit Tigers...
Tommy Larussa's backwards tumble at the All-Star game a couple years back was hilarious...
The Tigers batting out of order several times in one game last season (two different lineup cards for some reason)...
An apparently deaf ref at the Lions-Steelers Thanksgiving day somehow not hearing Jerome Bettis correctly during the coin toss for overtime...
Marty Mornhinwheg's decision to kick the ball in overtime last season...
Wayne Fontes picture in the Detroit NEws in a micky mouse ears hat with the caption "Wayne Fontes with his thinking cap on" Fontes was livid because it was for a charity thing, but it was still hilarious...

One of the funniest things actually happend during a boradcast of a game. It was back in (i think) 1990 or close to that. Ohio State was playing someone like Michigan St and laying the lumber to them. The guys calling the game were taking a break between the 3rd and 4th quarter and announced the obligatory "we'll be back after these messages" line. SWEAR on my grandfathers grave, someone in the background said "OH, who gives a fuck." I was watching it with a friend, and we laughed our asses off. Nothing was ever said about during the rest of the game, but it was the funniest thing I have ever heard on TV...because it was the damn truth....I really didn't give a fuck!
I also loved the time the Steelers were called for too many men on the field during a missed field goal (no not in the playoffs last year vs. the TITANS) and Bill Cowher stuck the picture from their cameras in the refs pocket to show him damn stupid he actually was.

Cambridge v Oxford annual boat race. Know what a cox is? It's the person in the boat without an oar who tells the poor fuckers how fast to row. Anyway, the race was run and won, and congratulations and commiserations were being bandied about. At this point, the terribly British commentator uttered; "Oh, isn't that nice. The wife of the Cambridge president is kissing the cox of the Oxford team." Classic stuff! :D

That's priceless Shaka, hehehehe! The thought of hearing a prim and proper British commentator saying that makes it even THAT much funnier.:D
