What movies will be on Criterion in the future? This doesn't have to be real news, just what you think should make it.

trainspotting
American Beauty
Dawn of the Dead

Well, I'll throw in some facts just to spice up this fiction:

Throne of Blood
The Adventures of Antoine Doinel 5-disc box set
Wrong Men, Notorious Women: Box set featuring The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes, Notorious, and Spellbound

Heavyweights. that fullscreen transfer barebones edition did no justice.

Anchor Bay releases 3-DVD set of Dawn Of The Dead next year. It was supposed to come out this year, but was delayed...
It will apparently include the original cut, an extended cut(Cannes cut/Director's cut(which it's actually isn't)) and the Italian cut(Argento cut).

I'm getting this one...

Very buyable.
DAWN hasn't been available in a good format for years. many tapes are the theatrical cut, while the other is the director's, and none are in print. Unless you want a no frills ed of it.

Hopefully, DOCUMENT OF THE DEAD will be included.

They should do a few Looney Tunes box Sets, since Warner is just sitting on them.

As for movies, they should do 2001: A Space Odyssey. The only really good version released was by Warner, but it costs $53.

Delicatessen would kick ass.

For sure, the Marx Brothers movies... all they need is the distribution rights.
The Shop Around the Corner can't be far behind now that they've got Trouble in Paradise. Same for Ninotchka.

I'd love to see something like Hero (the Oscar-nom movie) or some other Yimou movies, Red Sorghum would be a good choice, or Ju Dou.

...and about a thousand other movies. Fantastic Planet (although it already has a decent DVD), Things to Come, The Uninvited or The Old Dark House (or any other James Whale movie), some Johnny To movies would be nice... I think Fulltime Killer would be best, or a Running Out of Time 1 and 2 set... or The Mission.

Anyway, I'll stop now...

Is there something wrong with the current DVD editions of American Beauty, JFK, Natural Born Killers....? They all look pretty damn good, and they all feature commentary tracks, deleted scenes, lots of other extras... I think a Criterion release for any of these three in particular would be a waste.

I think they should try and focus on older films, things that have had really shitty releases, or things that have never been on DVD at all.
