Summer is soon coming to an end. What are your top 5 so far. Mine are below:

1. A.I. Artificial Intelligence- This was an amazing film. The effects were cool. Speilberg does great art and he really knows how to direct the camera. Jude Law was hilarious! Haley Joel Osment carried the film with ease and proved again he was super talented. I smell a oscar for him. This was a great picture and is a classic.

2. Evolution- This was a funny and action-packed film. Phil Tippett's effects were very cool and the dragon lizard was great. David Duchovny and Orlando Jones were a great team. Julianne Moore was funny too.

3. Shrek- This was a very fun and imaginative film. Mike Myers was great. Eddie Murphy stole the show. cameron diaz and John Lithgow were also good.

4.Planet Of The Apes- A fun and action-packed film with great makeup and acting. The spacepod crash sequence was amazing. Tim Roth and Michael Clarke Duncan play great apes. Tim Burton is a genius.

5.Jurassic Park 3- A fun and fast sequel. The effects were amazing. the kid had charm and so did Sam Neill. Dinosaurs rock!

I've only seen four so far, they are:

LEGALLY BLONDE
THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS
SCARY MOVIE 2
TOMB RAIDER

I loved Legally Blonde and The Fast And The Furious a lot and Scary Movie 2 was pretty damn good as well. Tomb Raider sucked really bad... Both Legally Blonde and The Fast And The Furious were excellent summer films...

Top five summer films

5.)A Knight's Tale
4.)The Crimson Rivers
3.)Songcatcher
2.)Sexy Beast
1.)Moulin Rouge

Memento, The Dish, The Widow of St. Pierre and Bridget Jones' Diary rate most highly of non-summer films. /ubb/biggrin.gif

I'd like to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch, but it hasn't been released in the Oklahoma City metro area. /ubb/frown.gif

1) "Shrek" (9.5/10)- A CGI-animated fantasy to rival Pixar- great script, great voicework, great animation, extremely fun movie.

2) "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" (9.5/10)- I haven't been able to stop thinking about this film since I saw it; it's inhabited my dreams, it's moved me in the two times I've seen it in theatres, and it's one of my all-time favorite films. The single best moviegoing experience I've been this year.

3) "Made" (9/10)- The latest from Jon Favreau has all of the smartass dialogue that made "Swingers" great, with Favreau and Vince Vaughn's chemistry in tact. Sean "P. Diddy" Combs makes a terrific debut; the year's best live-action comedy.

4) "Planet of the Apes" (9/10)- The smart, intriguing, and exciting sci-fi adventure we've been waiting for. Tim Burton's re-imagining of the 1968 classic and Pierre Boulle novel- with Rick Baker makeup to blow your mind- is the most fun sci-fi film in a few years, and Danny Elfman's score is the summer's best.

5) "The Score" (8.5/10)- An above-standard heist thriller made high entertainment thanks to the mastery of DeNiro, Norton, and Brando. For my money, the summer's best heist thriller; "Sexy Beast" was too much of a bore whenever Ben Kingsley wasn't onscreen.

Other personal favorites include:
"Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" (8/10)
"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (8/10)

I can't even make a list because everything this year has sucked so royally.

But Shrek was the single most enjoyable film I saw this year. Everything else sucked. Everything.

In no particular order:

Sexy Beast
Made
Shrek
The Princess and the Warrior
The Anniversary Party

Hollywood has not released one good film this summer. A.I., Tomb Raider, The Fast and the Furious, Jurassic Park 3, Planet of the Apes, Legally Blond, and everything else all suck. The Score is the only marginally decent movie.

1. BULLY - The best teen movie since WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE.

2. THE SCORE - The summer's classiest entertainment.

3. SEXY BEAST - It probably would've scored higher than THE SCORE had I understood more of the dialogue.

4. A KNIGHT'S TALE - Enjoyed the anachronisms here more than MOULIN ROUGE's.

5. LEGALLY BLONDE - More entertaining than it has any right to be, thanks to Reese Witherspoon.

I haven't seen much and I will be seeing more, not to mention there is still all of August yet to come:
5. Jurassic Park 3-one of the more entertaining movies of the summer.
4. The Mummy Returns-the most entertaining pure popcorn flick. It is also very much in the tradition of the Indiana Jones flicks that kind of adventure which Hollywood rarely makes anymore.
3. The Score-Great acting and lots of suspense.
2. Final Fantasy- one of the most visually dazzling films I've seen since What Dreams May Come. I thought it had a good story with it too. And definately the best video game based movie of all time.
1. A.I.-and nothing comes close. Infact it is the only masterpiece of the year and the best movie since, well, since Saving Private Ryan.

After getting chewed out for liking A.I., I don't feel so bad anymore. Here's my picks:

1. A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (Tie)
*One of Spielbergs best, it isn't perfect, but is easily one of the two best films in this downer of a summer.
1. Moulin Rouge (Tie)
3. Final Fantasy
4. Evolution
5. Atlantis

*Final Fantasy is not a great movie, but it is groundbreaking, and an extremely ambitious film(the animation is flawless).
*This is not final considering I have yet to see JP3, Planet of the Apes, The Score, and Swordfish; which I hope they'll be on the list sometime in the near future.
