I received my very own copy of One Hour Photo (damn good film - 8/10) yesterday, and everything about the DVD is just grand except for one thing (well, excluding the cover, but I've already moaned about that).....
On the sleeve there is a yellow box, with red (IIRC) writing saying NOT FOR RENTAL - it's un-missable. Then, when you open up the case, it's there again - this time on the disc. Slightly annoying, but I can live with that that...... what I can't live with (I'll do myself in later, don't worry) is a 30 SECOND, un-fast-forwardable warning telling me to report anyone who rented the DVD to me.... 30 seconds for chrissakes, that's almost a minute. Almost a minute of my life that I'm never going to get back, spent watching a warning message that nobody gives a shit about.
Surely there is no need, at all, to make this required viewing. If someone actually wants to phone the number, they will; everyone else should be able to skip it. Absolutely disgusting practice.
What's probably even worse than this, is when they force you to watch their god-damn logos. I know who the production company is, and I don't give a shit. There's no need to, essentially, force me to look at your stupid logo.
Have any of us ever been walking around the shop, looked at a DVD and said "Ooh, this is a Fox disc - lets not give a shit what the film is, I'll buy it anyway since Fox made One Hour Photo"? Probably.
