What did you think of this year's Oscar recievers?
I thought that Nicole Kidman deserved the statue more than anyone else ever!

This years awards show made me sick to the stomache. The academy is just a joke.

Yes, but last year.
Seriously though, she was deserving this year too, not my 1st choice, but still very deserving.

I thought it was one of the beter ceremonies that I've seen. Usually the Academy is completely predictable, but not this year. Eminem winning Best Song, Adrien Brody winning Best Actor, and Roman Polanski winning Best Director were complete shocks. I loved that most of the recipients gave all-embracing, non-partisan messages of hope for our soldiers (with the unforunate except of Michael Moore in the worst moment of the night). Plus, I never would have thought that Chicago would have won Best Picture and Roman Polanski would win Best Director. I thought both deserved them and considered it the Best-Case Scenario, but never thought it would happen.
Adrien Brody's acceptance speech was excellent, as well: he kissed Halle Berry, gave an all-embracing war message, and told the orchestra to shut up! Awesome.

P.S. - I'm glad that Nicole won, even though she really deserved it last year...

I loved it, it was much better than last year's Oscar show, and there were a lot of surprising upsets as well.

have to say i was really disapointed this year was probably the worst i have watched, very slow and drawn out not enough entertainment, the segment were they paid tribute to past winners was boring, the only highlight was steve martin he was very funny.
An improvement from last year. A couple of pleasant surprises, but still disgusting how some awards can be bought.
I liked it a lot. Shorter, funny host, tons o' surprises. I would have been very happy to see Brody win if I hadn't been rooting for Nicolas Cage. Oh well. Chris Cooper won.
Sad man

I agree with this yearīs winner. It was a decent "celebration".
Definitely better than last year, with A beautiful mind winning best picture and director, so lame...
I liked Chicago, so Iīm not mad that it won.Polanski really deserved the Oscar, Nicole!, Iīm so glad she won.Although Julianne Moore was my first choice.Catherine was nice too.
I didnīt like Adrien Brody in The Pianist.I donīt think heīs a great actor. But I loved his speech.
A good ceremony, too bad we are in war time...But as Nicole said: ..."Art is important"...

Ha! yes when Brody prolonged his speech and told them to shut-tp was certainly the best moment of the night.

My opinion abou the oscars is that they were just as good as any other year. At least they weren't dribble like i have witnessed before *cough*whoopy goldberg*cough*.
I'm glad Nicole Kidman got an oscar, but i feel that she only won this because she didn't win last year. I feel that Julianne Moore had a better performance than her this time around, but since when has the academy ever picked the great actors/actresses/best films/directors?
I can't comment on Best actor Mr.Brody simply due to the fact that i have been unable to see The Pianist yet, but will do so in close time.
I have to say one thing though, i should have put a bet on the Martin Scorcese wasn't gonna win. I just knew he wasn't...only i thought it might have gone to Rob Marshal. I just don't think Scorcese will ever be acknowledged.
And last but not least, Mr.Martin...this man was as funny as ever. He talked of contraversial issues and just made them real funny, his whole introduction was absolutley hilarious and every time he came on stage, he made everyone laugh.
Bravo!

I liked it this year. Steve Martin is a much more entertaining host than washed up center-square Whoopi could ever hope to be.
There were also a lot of surprises. The Academy judges could have played it safe and given best director to Scorsese, but they shocked the hell out of me by giving it to Polanski. Now, I haven't seen the Pianist, so I can't judge it, but I thought for sure that Polanski would get shunned because of his fugitive status. That was pretty ballsy on the Academy's part.
Michael Moore's little tantrum may have been offensive to some people, but no one can deny...it was entertaining. And certainly memorable. Whenever people think of this year's Oscars the first thing that's going to pop into their minds is Michael Moore's ficticious speech. :D
And any ceremony where Peter O'Toole gets to speechify is A-OK in my book. He's a class-act.
