Ok, I was in Blockbuster and I saw Magnolia on DVD I picked up a copy and rented it, but I thought that it came out August 29? I'm not complaining, but I'm a little confused...
The DVD is real cool. There's an HOUR documentry on the making of it, outakes, music videos, and trailers.

I was on New Line Cinema's pre-order list. Usually my films are paid for months in advance and come at the same time that retailers get them, but for example, back in July they sent me the "Boogie Nights" 2-DVD set and back in June I got "The Boiler Room"...go figure...the key is I specified way ahead and money talks bro...

If you want to get on the studio pre-order list, your best bet would be to check out the New Line web site and either E-Mail or write to them asking for information on upcoming titles and how to pre-order them. I did it the old fashioned way, I stuck a stamp on an envelope and went to the post office. New Line was really good about answering my reply. I have done the same with several different studios and places like Criterion Collection with mixed results...

Brock: Do you HAVE to buy every DVD that comes out from New Line, or can you just pick the ones you want out? Do you get a discount on any of them?
Crynot: It had two: First: Feature which had absolutly no features and Second: Supplemental which had a bunch of trailers and documentrys.

I only get the ones I want...you can get a pre-order catalog (actually it's more like a brochure in size). The pre-orders are discounted but considering their prices start at the msrp (manufacturers suggested retail price) the discount only makes it a little more reasonable, about the same as the price at BestBuy (19.99 for most, 24.99 - 30.00 for others with extras). Sometimes they do have specials though and there are rewards if you buy from them often, like free stuff...sometimes DVDs. Also, I do not have any affiliation (just a couple connections) with New Line and have found that most distributors have similar deals going...I just prefer some of the films at New Line just like I am partial to 20th Century Fox as of late. Hell, I even like Manga too...

I don't remember the reason of the top of my head for color bars, but if you hit them on either "Magnolia" disc, and wait a little while, you will get some cool deleted outtakes...the funniest one being John C. Reilly singing while mooning the camera...

ok, you might not have been able to find the commentary by PT Anderson, because it might have only been compatible with DVD-Rom on the computer.
And blockbuster maybe had a copy in early? /ubb/smile.gif
Think about it.
ARE YOU THINKING?
