The plot: Billy Bob Thornton stars as a man who is free after serving 19 years for killing a teenager during an attempted robbery. After nearly two decades of staring at his victim's face on a newspaper clipping in his cell, the paroled man attempts to find redemption, in the form of a mysterious minister (Morgan Freeman) and two needy women (Kirsten Dunst and Holly Hunter).
Levity has the best cast of any movie released this year so far, and I have been wanting to see it for months, despite it being directed by Ed Solomon, who's making his major directorial debut. I say "despite" because Solomon is responsible for writing the following movies:
Charlie's Angels
What Planet Are You From?
Super Mario Bros.
Mom and Dad Save the World
both Bill & Ted movies
Why did Sony trust him with this movie? Because he was a writer on the Garry Shandling show? I dunno, but the cast he's been blessed with must have been wowed by the script, which bodes well for this drama.
Levity opens April 4 in limited release.

I really hope this opens wide. I have seen the trailer, and it looks quite interesting. The cast is great, and it seems to have great themes. I'll be there when it opens.

This boggles my mind. Studios release a film starring friggin' Amanda Bynes in 2,500+ theatres, but a movie starring Morgan Freeman, Kirsten Dunst, Billy Bob Thorton, and Holly Hunter gets a limited release with barely any marketing! WTF! This looks amazing, but I'll have to wait for DVD. :(

What's wrong with the Bill and Ted movies?!
Anyways, the trailer for the film looks great, so I might be seeing this one as long as my interest for the movie stays.

Looks good, and anything with Kirsten Dunst is worthwhile, plus Billy Bob Thornton picks interesting material that usually ends up worthwhile. It is strange that a drama like this is directed by someone who has a background in comedy writing, still hopefully it'll get a run in Aussie cinemas, if not, it'll be a must-rent title.

There's nothing "wrong" with them, but you gotta admit that they aren't the most nuanced of scripts, and nothing like the seemingly subtle screenplay for Levity.

"Levity" sounds great, if I can find the film playing somewhere in my area, I'll definitely check it out.

I'll see it if I can, not despite the director....I think directors can always prove preconceived notions of themselves wrong...but....DESPITE Kirsten Dunst.

I saw this on Tuesday. A semi-solid movie propelled by an interesting plot and story. Good performances all around. This is definitely the best Dunst performance I have ever seen, but I think Holly Hunter was the star of the show here, her and Freeman were the two best here IMO. It was an entertaining drama that kept me engrossed throughout, but the ending wasn't totally fulfilling for me though, still a good film.
Three and a half stars
This sounds good, especially since it has the cute and talented Kirsten Dunst. I'll definitely check it out on video.

LEVITY got some pretty nasty reviews; Ebert, Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone trashed it, saying it was a melodramatic bore. The premise doesnt appeal to me much anyways, but I am a fan of Holly Hunter and its good Kirsten Dunst is trying new roles, but I wont see it.

Really? That sucks! I still want to see it though, it sounds like a good movie. I must admit, them calling it a "bore" kind of worries me. I hope they aren't right.
