i jus' saw a few 'hitchcock' dvds, and oh my god!they were so amazing.even if few of the endings weren't satisfactory, its just amazing how advanced his movies were in the mid 1900s.'vertigo','the birds','rope','north by northwest' and ofcourse 'psycho' etc, were so ahead of its times.and i especially respect him for 'rope',where only 9 shots were used!
but my question is,who according to you,can bring the kind of flair and suspense that hitchcock brought to the silver screen?who's gonna fill his shoes,as the critical as well as box-office master?well,my pick has to be m.night.shyamalan,although david lynch is up there too, when it comes to suspense.but night can bring out the emotions and atmosphere too.but still,he cant be compared to 'hitch'!can he?

Hey, I like Shyamalan as much as any self-respecting movie fan, but the new Hitchcock? Hmm. Hyperbole.

Not that I am denigrating your choices, mind. I can see where you are coming from, and all.

However, I actually don't like Hitchcock movies that much. Psycho aside, I find his movies too repressive,over-egged and technically flawed in some parts (the plane crash in North By Northwest wasn't very well done). The other accusations...misogyny, paranoia, etc - they mean little to me, but the movies themselves are often like extended episodes of The Twilight Zone. Too many gimmicky plots, not enough credibilty, and sorely over-exposed to Freudianism. Bullcrap, in other words. He was a great man...but over-rated in cinema.
