In the recent years, there have been MANY military action films released. Which one is your personal favorite?

The harrowing and intense BLACK HAWK DOWN gets my vote. WE WERE SOLDIERS and TIGERLAND follow closely, though.

I'm going with the minority to say Pearl Harbor (10/10). Enemy At the Gates (8/10), We Were Soldiers (8/10), and Black Hawk Down (7/10) are also good.

I liked Tigerland (8/10) the best.

Along with TIGERLAND (8.5/10)
I would also recommend the emotionally dark joy of DIVIDED WE FALL(9/10) and the visual feast of DARK BLUE WORLD(8.5/10).

Out of these options, I went with Enemy at the Gates, which is far better than any other film on that list...Out of what I've seen.

BLACK HAWK DOWN. I'd also recommend seeing ENEMY AT THE GATES, it's definitely worth a look.

Black Hawk Down. Not the greatest character development, but who could really blame them with so many of them fighting for screentime?
Second to Saving Private Ryan for a gritty, realistic and intense view of military combat.

Either Black Hawk Down or Three Kings
Enemy at the Gates was a decent war movie, though it runs out of steam towards the end. Pearl Harbor was an overlong, bloated "product" that had some good battle scenes, but overall it's a bore.

Has anyone seen DARK BLUE WORLD, DIVIDED WE FALL or NO MANS LAND????
All 3 are modern gems- War from the European POV.......examining Pearl Harbour, Bosnia and Checkslovakia. Visually superb with original takes on a largely US dominated genre.
DARK BLUE WORLD is superbly shot and focus' on WWII. Grand and epic are 2 words that spring to mind.
NO MANS LAND War with a dark sense of humour ala Catch 22.
Any war film fan should check these out.

Tigerland, with Enemy at the Gates coming in at a respectable second and Black Hawk Down pretty far back but still claiming third.

i actually went for Dog Soldiers. its a military film but with werewolves and the way they actually handled the military element was excellent and utterly convincing.
