Basically pick an actor whose acting choices have been running too far on the same side, i.e. playing the same kind of character far too often or ALL the time.

Gwyneth Paltrow - Why is this woman almost always cast as the intellectual (insert profession here) in every movie? We have the hoity-toity British poetry scholar in "Possesion", now we have her playing tortured poet, Sylvia Plath (UGH) in "Sylvia & Ted" and rumor has it she may take the lead role in the film adaptation of the play "Proof" (Double UGH!). She played that character once on stage in London, meantime Jennifer Jason Leigh and Mary Louise Parker played the character on stage in NY every week and killed everytime and Paltrow gets a better shot at the movie. That blows.

Catherine Keener - I have not seen this woman behave or act as anyone other than a disconnected, ice queen/smart ass with a dash of bitch thrown into the mix. I like her, I think she's cool but not a versatile actress by any stretch of the imagination in my book.

Jennifer Lopez playing characters who just can't seem to find a date; most of her movies take place squarely in Fantasyland. (Case and point, the cover for THE WEDDING PLANNER; "Oh, I just can't seem to find romance...")

Jake Gyllenhall-Playing the droopy-eyed, sensitive guy with a heart of gold.

Vin Diesel-The "I'm too badass for my shirt" schtick in his recent movies hasn't annoyed me, because he's got presence, but it will very soon since he won't be badass forever

What's with Daniel-Day Lewis and that whole "acting" schtick? It's really annoying...just play a role badly, dude.

John C. Reilly is always the dopey husband with a pregnant wife and there is a question as to whether the baby is his.

Tobey Maguire - Always playing the "nice", "sensitive" guy who always seems to be having some personal problems. I like Tobey but he isn't showing himself to be very versatile here.

Tom Cruise - Always plays himself over and over and over again. Triple UGH!

Julia Roberts - See Tom Cruise.

I love Morgan Freeman but I would like to see him as a character who isn't the old wise mentor. Dreamcatcher was a start but I would to see him in something that isn't underwritten.

Same goes for Tommy Lee Jones and how he's always playing a persuer.

I gotta disagree here...although he definitely does "cruise it" sometimes (MI, Minority, Few Good Men) and I used to hate the guy, I think there's a few movies that show his chops...

Born on the Fourth of July - 8/10
Jerry Maguire - 8/10
Rainman - 9/10
Magnolia - 6/10
Interview With the Vampire - 7/10

Totally agree with Julia though

Ben Affleck...this guy is horrible. His best role was probably in Dazed & Confused...it's just sad to see a guy that could take acting lessons from Keanu get so many roles

I'm also getting tired of seeing Catherine Keener playing some ball-busting, sarcastic studio executive or some variation thereof.

Sam jackson always being written into roles that just require him to say "Mother Fucker" and thats it. he can do better, hell just look at Basic, they hired him just because he can say "mother fucker" and "well well well" really....well
I think he's better then that, but he'll be typecast as Shaft-esque characters for a while (although Unbreakable was a step in the right direction)

Julia Roberts is always the same- the scream, the laugh, in every movie. She always plays herself. What was once really cute is now fake. She comes off as someone who is really jaded and "in" now. I wish she'd move over and give an up and coming actress a chance at some of these roles. The studios will keep hiring her cause she's a name brand, but I'd love to see her take a break.

Martin Lawrence - usually plays the little smart ass dumbshit who always gets in way over his head and seems to crack an unfunny joke every two minutes, mostly involving the word "damn".

Julia Roberts - I must commend her on her ability at playing a dead on Julia Roberts.

Jackie Chan - his physical stunts are beyond amazing (well used to be anyway), but he always seems to play the nice guy, usually named Jackie.

Gotta agree with John C Reilly...

The putupon simpleton/husband act is becoming somewhat tedious.

Not in Gangs of New York...he's starkly different there, with an equal amount of verve. Let's hope he has more choices now that he's got the Oscar nod.

Freddie Prinze Jr - The guy plays himself in every movie he's in and can't even do that well , this is one of the main reasons I hate him.
Matthew Lillard - He seems to play the goofy guy in every movie he's in , it works for him but I'd stil like to see him in more serious roles.

See SLC Punk.

Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker etc. - the black guy who can only speak by telling a joke about race/ethnicity.

Schtick? Uh, let's see maybe the schtick we should be judging is the celebrities agents or the writers.

This is true, but the actors always have the choice to say "No" to these samey projects though.

I totally agree. Green was the first person that came to mind but after careful consideration, I think it's just too generous to call him an "actor". He's just a repulsive human being who can rot in hell for all I care.

And as for Tom Cruise, I saw every movie of his and I'm sorry but the way he plays his characters is getting BORING. His characters might be different but the way he plays them is AHHHHHHHH! And he overacts too much when he plays them. I hate him.

Well I'm sick of seeing Kavein Bacon's schtick. For crying out loud, enough with the schtick! Same goes for Harvey Keitel...

Martin Lawrence ALWAYS plays Martin Lawrence in EVERY movie.

Chris "The Ass" Tucker is not only a TERRIBLE actor, he ALWAYS plays the same dickhead in EVERY movie. The high talking, smart mouthed black guy... wait... that's what Tucker is!!! So, stick him in the Martin Lawrence catagory.

Penelope Cruz is not only FUGLY AS SIN, she can't act! Maybe it's the accent, but all her english movies, she plays the quiet, shy, "sorry my english is bad" chick. Hell, even in Blow, when she was supposed to be a bad ass, she was terrible. She sucks, she sucks, she sucks, she sucks, she sucks... (okay this is more of I hate her, then a schtick thing... so I guess her schtick is she always plays the bad actress in every movie?)

Adam Sandler - showed potential in "Punch-Drunk Love" but even then it wasn't a big stretch for him, but just an extension of his one bit with better context. He needs to die, a lot.

Rob Schneider - Do I really need to say anything?

Martin Lawrence - "National Security" made me hate him so bad....I know it was just a character, in theory, but he was such a dick in that movie...

Chris Rock/Chris Tucker - I'm getting better at telling them apart, but I still don't care about either of them.

Vin Diesel - Fo' sheezy.

The late Jim Varney - I know people don't like to speak ill of the deceased, but you can't deny that his career died long before he did.

Here's a few I'm sick of...

http://www.clockwork-tangerine.com/media/deniro.jpg

"Are you lookin' at me? 'Cause I don't see anybody else here, watching any of this cheap self-parody pap I'm selling lately." De Niro should just take a hiatus for a few years, his move into comedic sendup is getting embarrassing.

http://www.clockwork-tangerine.com/media/lewis.jpg

Juliette Lewis' Girlchild schtick is really wearing thin, particularly when she combines it with her Redneck Spaz™ schtick.

http://www.clockwork-tangerine.com/media/jacksonbra.jpg

I know this has probably been talked about before, but Samuel Jackson's "Grandma Burger" schtick has gotten really old. How many times is he going to trot this one out? Granted, it was funny the first time, but give it a rest, already, motherfucka.
