I got three choices to buy three DVDs all Region 2 (but dat dont matter..the features are the same) anyway i need some advice.
1. The Hidden Fortress (Kurosawa) - 50s ... haven't seen it but love Kurosawa...sadly only one interview with George Lucas and that's it!
2. The Exorcist (Friedkin) - 70s ... seen it and like it alot but not a huge horror fan....it has A LOT of speical features. But is it worth it?
3. Alexander Nevsky (Einstein) - 30s ... haven't seen it but heard a lot of good things about it...no features.
So what do you guys suggest? They are all classics in their own right. But which are worth for a DVD collection?

If the Hidden Fortress has the same transfer the R1 Criterion disc has, then it's a must-have. Great rollicking adventure film, kinda like Seven Samurai without deeper meaning.

Yeah, I think it does coz at the back of the DVD there's a special thanks to Criterion.

Your DVD collection is incomplete without a copy of The Exorcist.

A fuckin great choice of titles! I agree with Bob on The Hidden Fortress even though I don't think the transfer is as good as the one of the CRITERION release. Isn't it a BFI DVD? Their releases are all good concerning audio/video quality, but ususally they can't hold a candle to the CRITERION discs. However, a great choice.
I love Alexander Nevsky, too. It's visually impressive and one of the greatest masterpieces in film history IMO. If you don't mind some questionable WWII morals it's probably the best film on your list.
I also love The Exorcist, but there's one problem: the new 'Version You've Never Seen' DVD has great surround sound and some creepy additional scenes, but the new audio commentary by Friedkin is incredibly boring. You can also pick up the old theatrical cut which has better extras and two kickass audio commentaries (one by Friedkin, the other one by the author Blatty), but a less impressive sound quality and, well, no 'spider walk' ;)

You're better off without the Spider Walk, as it looks really pathetic, IMO.
