Lately, I've been considering buying the Naked Gun Trilogy on DVD, but I'm unsure if there are any good extras or what the sound and video look like. Hopefully, someone with the DVDs can tell me what the hilarious, brilliant comedies look like transferred to the DVD format. P.S. I heard that the Zuckers give commentaries on all three films. Are they any good?

they each have a commentary and a trailer to the best of my knowledge.

The discs are pretty bare bones. Commentaries, trailers and scene selections are the only extras.
I'd wait until a SE comes out. It might be a while, considering it is a Paramount movie.

Has anyone of you guys checked out the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker commentaries? I have VHS copies of the trilogy and also consider buying this baby on DVD. However, I was very disappointed by the commentary on the Top Secret DVD which is quite slow and not very interesting. I've been told that the Naked Gun commentaries are hilarious and if that's the case I might buy them. There MUST be some schmoes who own the trilogy on DVD and know about this :)

I've heard the commentary for Naked Gun 33 1/3 and it is pretty funny, though far from the best commentary ever.

The commentaries are excellent. I bought The Naked Gun because it's a classic, and enjoyed the commentary so much I bought The Naked Gun 2 1/2 on the strength of the commentary alone (and I liked the film, of course). That commentary didn't disappoint either so I went the whole hog and bought The Naked Gun 33 1/3 which again was excellent commentary-wise.
They tend to focus on seperate aspects in each film. The Naked Gun focuses on how the film came about after the Police Squad! series, and also discusses how well Police Squad! did and why they only showed 6 episodes of it. Really funny, honestly.
The second film deals with how the success of the first film led to the release of the second one, and is in my opinion the best commentary as they point out all the cameos (mostly of Zucker family members). This tends to be the part in the trilogy that they can remember most about.
The third film basically criticises it the whole way through it, saying how they recycled the jokes and taking great pleasure in pointing out the jokes that aren't funny. It's a refreshing change to hear people actually making fun of their movie instead of the usual commentaries with a director who either believes his film is without flaws, or won't discuss them.
Overall, I'd highly recommend them. And look around, you can usually find them cheap. I got them all for £9.99 each (in the UK) and I've seen the boxset going for £20.

Thanks for the info, Scully1888! Much appreciated :)
I found this short transcript of the Robert Weiss/David Zucker/Peter Tilden bit where they are talking about OJ Simpson sneaking around at night complete with black knit cap and black outfitting in The naked Gun:
Tilden: "There it is. That's the knit cap."
Weiss: "And in fact, we got calls from people looking for this cap."
Zucker: "And they wanted the clip or something?"
Weiss: "They wanted the clip. Something about a glove. I don't know."
Tilden: "Now, this is actual footage of OJ or the movie?"
