Damn, the biggest payroll in the NHL, a lineup of superstars and these clowns miss the playoffs for the 6th straight year.

Some heads are gonna roll in the off season.

Even worse, it's the last game of the season and the shitty Habs are having their way with them.

What is up with that? Are they cursed?

Eh, people steppin' on each other's toes. Say you're Brian Leetch with the puck. Do you pass to Mark Messier, Eric Lindros, or Bobby Holik. By the time you've decided, you're in the faceoff circle, because the opposing team stole the puck and scored.

That team is just a mess. In the NY-Montreal game that just ended, Matthew Barnaby backhanded the puck into his own net, and the game-winning goal was an empty net goal by Saku Koivu. The Rangers just suck, through-and-through.

I refuse to take the Rangers seriously anymore, they're the laughing stock of the NHL. Too many superstar players who apparently have no chemistry. One would hope that Rangers management would eventually realize that this formula of superstars just isn't working, but somehow I doubt they'll ever realize it. I'm sure as long as there's that much money to be spent, they'll spend it.

They need to do several things to fix their franchise. A hockey version of the Yankees just won't work because you can't have a bunch of superstars on 3rd line checking or 4th line. It just doesn't work.

1)I say that they cut a lot of their payroll down and start to build with a younger foundation. Get rid of Messier, Bure, Leetch and Holik. Keep Lindros, Anson Carter, Poti and Nedved but bring in a lot of young guys...Dan Blackburn will be great in the future as their #1 goalie. Draft good role playing players that might not have the goal scoring phenomenon touch, but can play the game physically and can get the puck out of their zone.

2)Get a real coach. Bryan Trottier alienated his players and Glen Sather is a complete idiot as a coach. Hire Ted Nolan and give that man a fucking job and good money because he should be coaching. He won coach of the year! And now, no one wants him. He's a real coach. Don't worry about Mike Keenan or one of the Sutters...Ted Nolan is ready, willing and able to turn this piece of shit team into a contender. He did a lot with nothing in Buffalo, he can surely produce the same numbers with the New York Primadonnas.

As it stands, they will always attempt to go at the cup with the same philosophy, big name dynamos will get the job done and they will continue to miss the playoffs until the fans stop paying money and they'll be forced to start over and forced to take Ted Nolan as their coach...and then the fans might come back. Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The New York Rangers are the New York Mets of the NHL. So much money, but still no idea how to create a winning team. The NHL is not a Rotisserie fantasy league, and the Rangers' front office needs to realize this. Wow the two Madison Square Garden teams are giving the stadium a lot of free space this April and May!

I mostly agree, but I'd hold onto Leetch for a while, because he always seems to be the guy that gets them out of tight situations. I'll agree that they don't need Holik, Bure, or Messier, though.

The Rangers have no chemistry together and they have players who make way more than they should the only players who make close to the money they make are Barnaby and Leetch. And they take their all their prospects and trade them away for now just llok at the Lindros deal at which I'm glad now that my Leafs never made that trade for Lindros what I would do is go as hard as possible to get Lombardi the Sharks GM last year and start from scratch again because they are the real reason why 12-16 teams can't realistically compete in the NHL

And this team lost to Pittsburgh that was without Mario Lemieux and a bunch of 4th line players and minor leaguers

My mom is a Rangers fan. So much bashing in the house.

But man, they've got problems.

Let me quote Glen Sather...

"We will make the playoffs."

What was that again?

Man. Okay....they way I see it...

Mike Dunham is an awsome goalie. Really. I think he has improved by coming to New York. The problem he has is the fact he has a shite defence in front of him. Did you see the Jersey game?! I think he is really the only good thing New York has going for them.

The team needs to start playing as a TEAM. For them, it's a one man show. They don't play as a team. Every man for himself on that team. They've got soooooo many talented players. Why waste it? A key factor.

Quit buying all these players. Yes, there is a benift to having excellent players. But fuck, every week they get someone new. I think they should trade some of these stars for some young blood. They seem to be all the rage latley.

And most of all, HIRE A COACH!!! Time like these, Rangers are probably kicking themselves that they didn't offer Scotty B. a 100000000 dollars to coach.

I hope they will do better next season. I really do.

I felt like bumping this thread since the Rangers basically suck again and look like they are going to miss the playoffs again.

Losing 4-3 to Minnesota.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Even with Jaromir Jagr you overpaid fuckers still suck.

Actually this is like NYC team trend. The Knicks are awful, The Rangers suck, and so do the Mets. Theyve all had their moments in the sun but something happened that makes all these teams rock bottom.

Rangers playoffs hopes ended with the Back to Back losses to Buffalo, which now used those 2 wins as their own playoff push :) Buffalo is still the only REAL New York sports city. Althought its been a couple slow years, we owned this state in the 90's.

Yeah, and until some guy named Hasek comes back, dont expect it to happen again anytime soon. It was always all about Hasek.

They were officially eliminated tonight. We'll have to wait one more full year 'til they are eliminated again.
