One of the funniest films of the year so far, Old School will be released on June 10th from DreamWorks Home Entertainment. The comedy, featuring Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn, will be released in a standard R-rated version, as well as an uncut and unrated "Out of Control" version containing an additional two minutes of never-before-seen footage. The unrated version will come in separate anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and fullscreen releases, each featuring English and Spanish DD 5.1 audio and subtitles. The R-rated cut will apparently be issued in fullscreen-only. Bonus features will include a blooper reel, deleted scenes, "Will Ferrell: Inside the Actor's Studio" skit, footage from the film's premiere, Fantasy Wrestling, a Snoop Dogg music video and trailers. Retail is $26.99.

My friend made me a VCD of it a while back, and I don't mind telling you that it loses almost ALL of it's charm after about 5 viewings. :( I definitely won't be buying it.

I didn't see this, but I think it will be a blind buy. And rated FULLSCREEN ONLY??!! That's okay, I will buy the unrated.

Which gives Blockbuster and Wal-Mart another opportunity to pander to the ignorance of their customer base.

Why is this movie 2.35:1? IMDb states it's Super35, so why did they bother releasing this in theatres widescreen? For prestige? Super35 is such a complicated process that I wonder why the filmmakers didn't shoot it in open matte 1.85:1; now the "fullscreen" version is gonna have a lot of dead space on the top and bottom of the frame (not that anyone who'd buy the fullscreen version would notice, or care)...

I find the FS only thing a little disturbing. I sure hope they'll have it in WS too, or it's a signal of what's to come in the DVD future. :(

I think they're putting the R-rated in FS only because they don't expect anybody to buy it. It's being released UNRATED in WS and FS...why do you guys care about the R-rated version? I sure don't. Can't wait for this dvd!

I will definetely be checking this out, maybe even making it a blind purchase. I heard it was great and I loved ROAD TRIP, so this should be a great movie. I'm glad it's coming out so early.

Old School (C-) wasn't that funny at all. I doubt an unrated version will make the movie any better...
