Hmmm....neither yay or nay. Thora Birch is a credible actress, but she just seems to lack versatility. I'm no expert, and probably not in a position to criticise as I haven't seen all of her recent films, but Enid from Ghost World was a slightly different version of Jane Burnham. She's great at the moody teen, but I'd like to see her branch out more.

Looks-wise, she does has a certain alterna-beauty, and is an admirable role model for teenage girls- she's not stick thin and isn't symmetrically gorgeous as society (or Greb and quoth ;)) may desire.

I'm still not convinced to put yay, though. She seems to be a little stand-offish.

I think, as far as a straight chick can, that she is incredibly sexy. She's not "pretty" but I could plop her in a costume drama just as easily as a futuristic thriller. Her appearance is timeless and she oozes sex appeal.

As far as her acting goes, as much as I love American Beauty, I feel she was the weakest point. Sometimes (Ghost World) she is INCREDIBLE and becomes the character to an amazing extent, but other times, she feels strained and uncomfortable with her lines.

Overall: A definite yay.
