View Full Version : Can Tiger make it 3 in a row at The Masters?

Well, no one else has ever done it, he's looking to make history this weekend. I would say he's got a great chance to do just that.
He's so comfortable and at home in Augusta, three wins in eight tries I guess will do that to you. The course is tailor made for his game, it is a bit soggy but I don't see that hampering his game too much, actually it's a bit of an advantage. I just don't understand all this so called "Tiger proofing" of courses, extending length just plays into his hands and puts the others at a disadvantage. ESPN seems to think some of the longer hitters on tour such as Mickelson, Els, and Love have a good chance of unseeding him this weekend, and who knows someone could come from no where and win it. If I were a betting man though, I'd put my money on Tiger to win a third straight green jacket.
Thoughts.... comments.

Of course, if Tiger's on his game he can easily claim his third victory at the Masters.
I just hope this weekend isn't hampered by the female protesters picketing so Augusta National let's women play there; I'm all for equal rights but what's the point of a private club if you can't have your own set of rules. Jesus, they piss me off! Find something else to do for chrissakes.
For the dark horse, my money's on Mike Weir. I think he's due for his first major victory; he's already won twice this year and his confidence is high.

Obviously Tiger is the guy to beat. None of the other guys have proved that they can compete with him if it comes down to the final day. The only way Mickelson or Els or somebody else can win is if they get out ahead early and dont let Tiger get close enough to smell blood.
As far as the protesters go, I guess the club should be able to make their own rules, but I think they are a bunch of assholes if they arent willing to let females join the club. If I were the PGA I would consider trying to move the Masters tournament until Hootie and his friends decide to move into the 21st century.

No way will they move the Masters. Augusta IS the Masters.
If Tiger gets off to a godd start, he'll win. He's got ungodly concentration and shot making abilities. Anybody who doesn't play golf can't understand. What he does is unreal. A 230 yard 3 iron, with water surrounding the green, and he sticks it within 10 feet? Fuck.

First round postponed by rain, the guys will be playing 36 holes tomorrow if they can get them all in. Half the field will tee off on 10 while the others will start on 1. Man what an advantage to the young guys, 36 holes in one day, that a heck of alot of walking, I'd be dead on my feet by the end of the day.
As far as the protestors go, it is a privately owned club and I guess they have a right to pick and choose who they let in. It's not like it's a public course and they are refusing to let women play it. No one's saying women can't play the course, they just can't join it. I think it is a bit of an old fashioned idea but it's their right do so.
As far as moving the Masters away from Augusta, no way it'll ever happen.

You bet it is! Sure, it's old-fashioned but like you said: "It's their right".
If the protesters start coming out of the woodwork this weeked, I'd send in the riot police, enough already.
On a lighter note, I get the feeling Tiger will not win this weekend, I believe it'll be a first-time major winner.
Supposing Woods doesn't win, who do you think might pull it off?
As I said before, Mike Weir's my pick.

I'll predict Phil Mickelson get's the monkey off his back and finally wins a major. Tomorrow's 36 hole marathon will really test the will's of the players. Mental fatigue will probably be more a factor than physical weariness. Concentrating at such a high level for 36 holes is really a testament to the players.

Phil won't do it this week.
I'd like to see Els win, if Tiger doesn't.

I dont think Phil 'B-Cup' Mickelson is up to that endurance test.

I dont think they will, but I think maybe they should, or at least threaten to.

Are you saying you cant do that? Me, I do it all the time

Tiger's chances just got alot better. With all the rain the past 4 days, and the recent changes to the course to make it longer, he's got an even better shot at doing it. Plus, he's in better shape than most of the fat fuckers playing. So a 36 hole first day will wipe out alot of wannabe contenders.

Well he certainly can't make 3 in a row if it rains all weekend...
I think that women should be allowed into the club, but Martha Burk has just gone over the edge in recent weeks and her tirades have only brought attention away from the tournament. Calm down and let them play!
As for the tournament, I'll be very surpriesd if Tiger can't win again.

Tiger has a great chance of winning ; what with him being the best golfer right now. No, but I think he could do it. He's a very good golfer, and when on his game ; watch out!
Although I am tired of him winning. I would love to see Canadian boy -- Mike Weir win.

It's currently 3:38 Eastern standard time and Mike Weir is tied in third on the leaderboard...it's happening!:)
P.S. Tiger Woods is at +4.

Hey Indiana, nice prediction with Mike Weir there. The canuck's been doing well the first two rounds. As for Tiger, I guess he was under too much pressure. +2 after 1 1/2 rounds does not help...

Thank you Benny!:)
Let's hope our boy doesn't crack under the tremendous pressure!

Too late...Mike had a +3 on the day and blew a 6 stroke lead and now trails by two...fuck! He always chokes...poor guy. I hope he can regroup and win it tomorrow. I think he is a good golfer but he needs to prove himself at this level.

Looks like he could still win it. Tiger is falling.

Did you see Maggert? Oh I feel so sorry for him...+5 on the par 3 12th hole. Killed any chances he had. Len Mattiace is having a killer day, he needs to have a duplicate of the Player's Championship from a few years back so my boy Weir can charge through and win this baby.

Nice Pick! :) Yay Canada-boy Mike Weir! I feel sorry for Maggert though, he had a chance but blew it. And Tiger couldn't do anything, either. Len Maatiace though, it was very surprising to see his name up there, and he had a chance right up to the very end.
Question: Has Hootie Johnson ever traveled outside of Georgia?

My dark horse came through and I didn't just pick him because he's Canadian, he had won twice already this year and he was consistently playing great golf. Mike Weir WAS the best golfer after Tiger Woods in the PGA tour this year. It wasn't a long shot or anything.
Congratulations Mike!
I predict another MAJOR this year.:)

I've been a Weir supporter since he started on the tour...even after his 80 at the Player's Championship two years ago, I still stuck with him...and yes Indy, he will take another major this year!
So do you think you'll take that crack about me ruining the maritimers reputation back? :D

Fine, only because I was in Moncton last year and the people there were very nice.
But, watch it.;)
