Simple enough question...

How much and on which sporting event?

Horse racing, hockey, baseball, the goddamn Superbowl, etc...

I won around 500 clams on November last on a legalized sports hockey lotto we have here in Quebec called Mise-au-Jeu. You basically choose at least 3 outcomes to hockey games and put as much money on the games as you wish; then they multiply that by the "odds" those teams had of winning and there's your total...Needless to say, I took a couple of tie games which are rated high and I got lucky!

As far as how much I've lost, well in total it would definately exceed 500 clams!:D

I don't gamble much. I did however make $50 at this year's SuperBowl, so that was cool.

I've never placed a bet in my life...

however, i do work in a major football (soccer) ground for a bookmaker's amazingly enough. the most i have seen someone lost is £200. the biggest win was about £800. we had one guy who was set to win a double bet on the game once, and claim £1300, but, at the 90th minute a final goal was scored, buggering up his bet. he was heartbroken....

Hi, my name is MarkItZero,
And I have a gambling problem.

Sports gambling is something I have worked into my monthly budget, there is rent, car payment and gambling. I spend far too much, and I dont win as often as I would like.

That being said, I make numerous small bets rather than betting any large amount at one time.

So I would say the most I have ever won betting on sports would probably be about $500 I won two years ago in a Weekly Football Confidence Pool. First place out of 120 people, not too shabby.

The most I ever lost on one event was probably about $350 for last years NCAA Final Four (I was convinced I had the perfect bracket, so I entered every pool I could find).

eh, the most i've lost is probably 20 bucks at the horse races (not much of a gambler)
But get this....one time when i was at the track I saw a horse that had odds of 33-1. I dunno, i just had a feeling, and i bet two dollars to win. He won! I won 56 bucks on a 2 dollar bet!
-----

I know that no one will probably believe me on this next story, but my cousin who lives in London gambles for a living. I'm not sure of the game, but a couple years back he picked ManU to lose. They were down 1 nothing the whole game, until the last couple of minutes they scored two goals and won 2-1. Here's were it gets hard to believe...he lost £60,000. Seriously.....
(he's successful (has a ferrari and lives on the thames) so it wasn't his life savings or anything, but he took a big blow from that)

and perhaps a UK schmoe could indentify that game?

I ain't a big gambler (I only gamble with my life, he says with a grin). I must've lost several times twenty or twenty-five bucks during the 2002 Soccer World Cup (I got surprised there), and 25 bucks when the Houston Rockets defeated the New York Knicks in game seven of the NBA Finals a few years ago.

As for winning...I must've won 10 or 15 bucks betting France would beat Brazil in the 1998 Soccer World Cup. Hurray for me. :)

When i first turned 21, I was in Vegas and I put down money on the Chicago Bears. $500. That was my money to get home and lost it all. I'm still stranded here in Ceasers Palace.

I won $2,000 on Super Bowl numbers pool 1998, just pure luck. I do the NCAA basketball tourney every year but never have much luck. It makes it interesting to watch though.:D

I'm not a big gambler, I usually lose about 10-20 bucks a year in a football pool. And I've never won a damn thing.

Even though I'm not 21 yet doesn't mean I'm not old enough to bet on games! I spend $2/week during the football season to pick games, and I won about half of that back this year. But my biggest win was in a Super Bowl Numbers Pool, when I won $50 at halftime. The most I lost, however, was when I gave someone $50 to bet in Vegas that the Eagles would win the NFC Championship in 2001. And they lost in the NFC Championship Game, too, which just about killed me!

Funny story to follow up on my earlier post. I kind of begged my way into that $2,000 I won.:D My friend had gotten one of the last squares in this big numbers pool which ran you $100 a piece, and I was going to get one but they were all sold. He didn't want to give me half of his but I threw a $50 bill in his face and he couldn't turn it down.:) We hit the final score and I basically screwed him out of $2,000, since we split the $4000 pot.

He still talks about that to this day.

Most recently I won $160 on the 2002 World Cup...at my work here my Dad made a pool. There are 8 people and each person got 4 teams...I wound up with Brazil...its funny because one day he says alright you're in for $20 for the World Cup pool. I wasn't even there for the drawing! of the teams...but I wound up with Brazil and when many of the favorites didn't do well I was looking good.

Of course when Brazil played England in the Quarterfinals I was torn. I would have rather have seen England beat Brazil and win the World Cup than win that pool! I want to see them win a World Cup in my lifetime...bet or no bet!

Last baseball season I lost a bet to my dad...$100. We bet on who would end up with a better record San Francisco Giants or Oakland A's...I am more of a die hard Giants fan and he is more of a die hard A's fan but we like both. We made the bet in like August, which was a bad idea...and the 20 game win streak by Oakland killed me!

This season we have the same bet! I'm liking my chances better now that the G-men are 13-2...while Oakland is hovering around .500
