Anybody have any official word if this will be released sometime in the near future? It would be great to see a 70th anniversary DVD out. Any word? Any rumors at least?

i would guess they would rerelease when peter jacksons version is heading to theaters. an educated guess.

I saw somewhere(digitalbits, I think), that the studio was planning a 70th anniversary, but couldn't get it finished in time. A release should be out in 2004, according to what I read. Timing it with Jackson's film would make sense as well, though.

It could be released later this year, next year, or when Jackson remakes it.

If you have a multi-regional player, you could buy the UK DVD, which has been out for a while.
