All right guys, fess up. What's the dumbest thing, or the thing you're still embarrassed about in sports you've ever done? We have a thread for our personal victories, I thought maybe we should have one for our personal "failures". Who knows, this could be therapeutic...or at least funny. :D
I was in gymnastics till I was about 13, and we had team leotards. They were a dark purple with black pinstripes that ran diagonally across. Well, any gymnast wearing these things can tell you that leotards have a way of crawling up your crack. For that reason we're supposed to wear underwear that compliments the leotard...because it could show at any given moment. Weeeellll, I don't know what got into me, but on the day of competition I decided to wear bright orange underwear. Naturally during my routines it started showing. It was actually on that day that I found that the judges could've docked me points for such a tasteless display. Huh? lol! Luckily they didn't dock me points, but it's still pretty embarrassing to think about.
Another one is from my high school track days. I was a really good sprinter when I was about 9 or 10, but my speed died once I became a teenager. So I focused on distance, but my endurance wasn't much to write home about at the time either. So... for one particular race, the track coach chose me to run the 400m. I started running, and I was hellbent on keeping up with the fastest and best runner in the race. Needless to say I died about 200 meters into the race, I came in dead last, and I pretty much needed an oxygen tank by the time I crawled to the finish line. Wow, I never did that again. lol
Whew, I feel so much lighter now. Your turn. ;)
