All right guys, fess up. What's the dumbest thing, or the thing you're still embarrassed about in sports you've ever done? We have a thread for our personal victories, I thought maybe we should have one for our personal "failures". Who knows, this could be therapeutic...or at least funny. :D

I was in gymnastics till I was about 13, and we had team leotards. They were a dark purple with black pinstripes that ran diagonally across. Well, any gymnast wearing these things can tell you that leotards have a way of crawling up your crack. For that reason we're supposed to wear underwear that compliments the leotard...because it could show at any given moment. Weeeellll, I don't know what got into me, but on the day of competition I decided to wear bright orange underwear. Naturally during my routines it started showing. It was actually on that day that I found that the judges could've docked me points for such a tasteless display. Huh? lol! Luckily they didn't dock me points, but it's still pretty embarrassing to think about.

Another one is from my high school track days. I was a really good sprinter when I was about 9 or 10, but my speed died once I became a teenager. So I focused on distance, but my endurance wasn't much to write home about at the time either. So... for one particular race, the track coach chose me to run the 400m. I started running, and I was hellbent on keeping up with the fastest and best runner in the race. Needless to say I died about 200 meters into the race, I came in dead last, and I pretty much needed an oxygen tank by the time I crawled to the finish line. Wow, I never did that again. lol

Whew, I feel so much lighter now. Your turn. ;)

Most of mine came in my adult flag football league. I'm not shy about saying I was the best all around player in the league. I would make catches that would astound even me. But, almost inevitably, on the occasions where I was WIDE open, I would drop the ball. Nothing more embarrasing. Except the time myself and one of my teammates were running crossing patterns along the front line of the end zone and absolutely took each other out. He was about a head shorter than me, and just plowed into me. Neither one of us were looking at each other. I was layed out.;)

When I was playing cricket, i went wicket keeper, and we put on a spinner that mixed up sinners with fast balls, he didn't tell me he was going to bowl a fast ball. Long Sotory short, I caught the cricket ball with my face.

ANd once when i was playing australian football, it was raining, and this guy kicked the ball from about 5 metres away, and yet again, I caught it with my face. Actually i did it twice that game, the other one was a high kick and I went to mark (thats aussie football word for catch) the mark, but caught it with my face again.

I guess i gotta start using my hands every now and again.

My most embarassing moment that I can remember involves my dad...playing school sports in england means your parents usually come and support you and my parents did...but my dad was known as the loud obnoxious American and always smokin' a cigar...and he would be exactly that. He would embarass me and my sister all the time! Anyway during one soccer match my dad is on the sidelines yelling away and he yells out "That was offsides ref! What are you blind?!"...so at this point the referee(who also happened to be my Latin teacher and the school vice head master Mr. Cooper...and a real dick) blows the whistle and stops the game and goes up to my dad , offers him the whistle and says "Do you want to referee this game?!" Man that was embarassing!

Not really a sport failure for me...but an embarassing moment I can remember. See my 2nd golf story in the other thread for an embarassing sports failure...lol Blowing a hole after a beautiful tee shot.

Probably scoring an own goal for my old Upper school football team and then getting me nads squished against the post...that's pretty embarrasing.

Shooting the ball into the wrong basket in basketball. That, and in wallyball, I pounded the ball so hard it ricocheted all over the room (we were playing in an enclosed raquetball court).

I have a few stories to tell.....

- One night during a hockey game (I'm a goalie, btw). The puck was in the other end. The player shot it, not too hard, but enough to come into our own end. I wasn't reall paying attention. Which would be costly. I didn't realize it was coming straight for my net! By the time I realized it-- it was in the net. I got really pissed and almost broke my stick.

- Another one was during a hockey game. A player who is okay scored a weak one on me. This was during a playoff game, with family and friends watching.

- During soccer or football I scored in our own net. Pretty stupid.
