I was just on Amazon looking at reviews for THE HAUNTING 1999(Which I liked because of its eerie cinematography, creepy music, and setting),when I came across a comment saying the 1963 version was gonna be on DVD soon. So I checked to see THE HAUNTING 1963 on DVD,and it said it was coming soon. Not sure when. Hopefully its better then the effects-laden semi-creepy remake.

It is better. I love the original "The Haunting" and I'm glad it's finally hitting DVD. I have it on LD, but my player's not even hooked up anymore.

It's MILES better. It's one of the few remaining horror films that still scares me. It uses the suggestion of horror, as opposed to CGI FX, to notch up the suspense.
If it's coming out on DVD, I live in hope there'll be a director's commentary (unlikely), or at the very least a "making of" featurette.

Well, its coming out in August,on the 5th. Cant wait to see this one. Subtle horror is the best. I have one question. Are the main titles really cheesy sinse it is an old flick? Or are they spooky?

The extras will be:
THE HAUNTING: Commentary by director Robert Wise and screenwriter Nelson Gidding, interview galleries, trailer.
Sounds good to me! It also has a good cover!
