Just wondering what this flick was like. I usually like Cronenberg but I not too sure about this one. Any comments?

whats with the title? nobody was naked while eating lunch. what a ripoff.

Seriously, I didnt much care for this one. Was too weird and just went on and on. Sorry I liked Scanners and Videodrome more. This one just sucked.

Exterminator gets messed up off of bug poisoning and talks to his typewriter because he thinks it is a giant cockroach. That's basically Naked Lunch for you.

This movie is chalk full o' metaphors so if you like deciphering movies you should like it. A lot of people don't like all the homo-erotic imagery but if it doesn't bother you you shouldn't mind. I think a basic answer is it is an essay on what could or could not be in terms of drug use to be creative--in this case its effect on writing.

Here's what they did with Naked Lunch. They took the book Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs and mixed it up to make one messed up movie. I for one thought it turned out to be one of the best movies of our time. Because of his drug use, its hard to follow Burroughs' book but the movie is easy to follow if you have ever used drugs yourself. By the way its called Naked Lunch because that is the name of the book Mr. Lee(Peter Weller) is writting in the movie. As for David Cronenberg, I think this is his best movie ever. If you ever listen to industrial music, this move has been sampled a million times.

I read the book and thought it was interesting (and MESSED UP). The movie was great but I need to watch it again because I didn't make much sense of a lot of it. I know the film wasn't entirely based on the book but takes a bit from Burroughs writings and his life. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy hallucinatory cinema.

I love the film and the book. I read the book first, loved it, then watched the movie and was amazed by Cronenberg's interpretation of it. I love the tagline: "William Burroughs and David Cronenberg invite you to lunch" - Genius
