Anyone have any comments on how race is presented in horror? Personally, i don't think we stereotype as much as we used to in the 80, but as a result you hardly see any ethnicity in horror movies anymore.

I would say Black people and gay's are pretty stereotyped in horror movies alot. Like in almost every horror movie the African-American character's alway's speak like they are straight outta compton, when alot of african american people I know don't talk anything like that. And Gay guy's are always waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too flaming. But I just think that is hollywood in general.

Well as far ethinic representation goes country's whom may not feel representated etheir now or in the past are creating great horror films.
To name some obvious examples Japan,Kora,China and yes that's just Asia but Bollywood has only just started to be noticed and to be fair the Indian film industry has only been concered to a large degree with thier own auidence.
Now they have two horror films in the work and the first looks pretty damn good.
If it's the ethnic population being representated in horror well as far as I have seen it seems reasonably fair to me and don't forget as long as there isn't any racial motive that prents any race being in a film it's not the film industry to address a P.C obbsessed world.
Actors will be picked up by the talents usualy I am not saying people are not descriminated against but it's an old issue that dosen't have as much steam in it as it once did.

Hollywood can be pretty discriminating. I remember reading that for Hellraiser the studio wanted all the voices dubbed because they were worried people would not take to the movie because of the British accents :D
