why don't you buy the sets ??

Wouldn't it be less expensive ?

I don't much care for Rope, but Rear Window is incredibly good. One of my favorite movies. James Stewart is always great, and Grace Kelly never looked lovelier. You'll fall instantly in love with Thelma Ritter, too. Definitely a "I envy you for seeing it for the first time" kind of movie.

After that, it's a toss-up between North by Northwest and Psycho. Psycho really is a masterpiece. I can only imagine how effective it would have been had I not known certain things before seeing it for the first time. North By Northwest is completely different, but I can't imagine someone not liking it.

Consider the Birds after that. It's really the closest Hitch came to a Night of the Living Dead type of movie. Survival horror, in other words. Some of the effects have aged poorly, but don't hold that against it.

Frenzy is a good choice. It's pretty different from his other movies, and really reflects the changing times. For example, it's the only movie he did with nudity and language, I believe.

For older movies, you can't go wrong with Shadow of a Doubt and Saboteur.

I have the Alfred Hitchcock set, but if you don't have the 140 dollars up front, you are better off just building your collection, with the ones you like the best and go fromthere. I also want to acquire the entire hitchcock collection. I think if you like his movies it's a good goal to atain.

An expensive goal to attain though /ubb/wink.gif

It's like The-X Files. Each season is ~$100, and there are almost 10 of them !!

It will be the same with the simpsons. FOX estimated the price of 1 season between 50-90$ ... x 13 seasons !!!

It's all in what you like. I mean I bought the Sopranos 1st season and that was 70.00. When they release the 2nd season. I plan on buying that too. I know it's expensive to own some of these collections, but if money is a big issue, but you still want it, you could always buy the VHS version, which is usually a ton cheaper. Your losing quality but you own it and a little bit of a reasonable cost.

I like to collect Hitchcock films too. So far I have...

The Lady Vanishes
North By Northwest
Psycho
Rear Window
Strangers On A Train
Topaz
Torn Curtain
Vertigo

Vertigo is my favorite of all his films.
