I just returned from this movie and, despite the excellent cast, the trailer had not promised much.

the plot of a group of bungling criminals on a once in an a lifetime did not exactly fill me with eager zeal as i entered the theatre.

But this quirky little film made the most of an average script and while much of the humour was slapstick and somewhat childish, it was executed with a verve and skill that was a joy to behold

A classic example of a fabulous cast rising above the good but not startling material to produce a lovely little film. Sam Rockwell relishing his anchor role.

William H Macy....Isiah Washington.....Michael Leter...Luiz Guzman....Patricia Clarkson..and a fun cameo from george Clooney

great fun all round

Ya know, when I saw the cast, I had such high hopes for this movie, but it just did nothing for me. I thought the plot was lame, the writing was horrible, and even the great cast couldn;t redeem the cheesy lines. It just felt flat.

I thought the flick was funny, amusing, and charming as hell. Terrific cast (Jeter's performance was a gem) and a nice, goofy sense of humor. Spread pretty thin, though, and the subplot with the detective didn't really fit in all that well. But in all in all, I thought it was a funny, solid flick, as good as the film it was remade from (BIG DEAL ON MADONNA STREET).

*** out of ****

A movie with potential, in dire need of an extra 15 minutes. Had a tendencey to be all over the place....direction/editing could have been tighter. 6/10

#10?

It just seemed to end too quickly. It was fun pretty much all the way through, until it ended like a slap in the face.

i kinda liked how they wrapped it up, simply and without pretention..i was concerned they were gonna try for a big twist ending, as is the fashion nowadays

but they left it as it was, a quirky little gem....not original or life changing but made and acted with real affection...the cast looked like they had a fantastic time making it
