Good acting, but the film was not my cup of tea.

A freakin awesome, trippy film that is underrated.
An aqcuired taste, but those willing to see past the fact its about homosexuality (not that Im a homophobe, but some people aren't open) and initially confusing format, will be delighted by the performances and music.

A feast for the ladies in the audience: Jonahon Rys Myers, Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor.

Not perfect but damn near it.

I watched last night like I said, and It wasn´t that good.Amazing acting(Specially by Mr. Ewan McGregor and Toni Collette). But I wasn´t impressed at all with the plot, and the story was weak.
Nothing really happened.Great costumes, great soundtrack and acting, but nothing else.I was very dissapointed.

5/10 :(

3/10, mostly because 20th century boy is a good song.

I love Ewan McGregor, and I enjoy Toni Collette, but this movie squeaks by with a 5/10 from me. Just not my style.

it was an interesting concept and worth watching

but it was messy, incoherent and lacked soul

plus ewan mcgregor is enough to give any man a complex lol

Terribly disappointing, all over the place, and at times just unfocused.

Hoo, boy, wait till BCV enters this little domain...:D

Awwwwww, where's all the lurve for Brian Slade & Co???

Deary fucking me.

I loved it...

The songs are fantabulous (particularly 2HB and Ladytron), the boys are a feast for the eyes, the premise is extravagant and seriously kitsch and the whole flick is just jam-packed with glitter and glam.

Okay, so the "plot" is waaaaafer thin, and the story is choppy in parts...I'll give you that, and Ewan's ropey accent doesn't help matters...but COME ON, there is just soooooo much fun to be had.

I suggest you bag yourself a copy of the soundtrack, a healthy supply of gin (umbrella's, stirrer's and cherry's are a must)....and boogie on down.

Velvet Goldmine is far from flawless...but bejesus, it's well funky.

9/10

PS: I can't help but get "excited" when Slade has the schoolboy...face down...arse exposed...;), I think I may be slightly ill.

BCV,

Heres the love for the boys of Velvet Goldmine. You've got an ally in me, luv.

I wish DO YOU WANNA TOUCH ME was on the soundtrack, I love when Slade is checking hem out to that super Gary Glitter tune. That pin stripe suit is too sexy.

Nice David Thewlis avatar, BCV. You got good taste.
