Well I just woke up from being passed out for 10 hours after arrving from the best concert in my life. Now I've been to my fair share of concerts and by far this was the greatest live musical experience my little bowieee eyes and ears have ever witnessed. To Break down the bands I saw:

The hot hot heat: A Pretty decent band that Jack White takes on tour with him from detroit. Sounded a little I'm being strange just to sound strange though. A Highlight was watching Jack Black hide behind a speaker and sing along with them.

The Soundtrack of our lives: I've heard alot about this band from around town, advertising and schmoes here in the forums but I never really checked them out too much. Well they put on one fucking great live show. The lead singer looks like the complete polar opposite of a rock star yet he had full blown stage charisma and had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. The music was great and I'm sure to buy the album as soon as I can.

The Polymorphic spree: This is pretty much the closest I'll probably be able to get to atchinmg a giant cult in robes sing on a large stage.:) This band is led by the lead singer of tripping daisy and had about 42 musicians backing him up on stage either playing instruments or singing in his happy polymorphic spree choir. They all had white robes on and every song was about "reaching for the sun" When it came down to it they were alot of fun :)

The Mars Volta :
This is my second time watching the mars volta and it just confirms my opinion that they are one of the best bands in the WORLD. Even the red hot chili peppers have said that they are the greatest band they have ever taken the stage with. Well The Mars Volta took the stage and ripped out an amazing show that had the crowd begging for more. Their first full length album is due out in a couple of months and I'm going to harass you guys like crazy to check it out when its released :)

Sonic Youth :
Like always Sonic youth put on a fantastic show chiming their guitars and distortion away and making me a happy boy. Sonic Youth is one of the greatest live bands of all time and they do it effortlessly. How they can look so damn cool on stage while being like 45 years old amazes me. Let alone their music being some of the best around. This was a major major highlight of the show :)

Jack Johnson
Jack Johnson was an ok guy. He mellowfied the audience for an hour or so grooving out and everyone had a fun time. I was probably one of ten people in the crowd who didn't know the words to all his songs. So everyone was dancing around singing and having a mellow time. I found it a nice change of pace. Plus it was neat to watch the crowd go wild when the lead singer of G love and Special Sauce took the stage to sing with him.

The White Stripes
Oh my fucking god was this awesome. I was anticipating seeing them play for the longest time and Jack and Meg fullfilled my every expectation and then some. Watching them belt out ball and a biscuit and then turn around and play seven nation army was pretty much musical bliss for me. Plus they have a stage presence unlike any other band I've ever seen. Jack White is the epitomy of cool. I know a few schmoes here at joblo are seeing them a week from yesterday and they are going to have a fucking blast of a time. :) I get to see them again in my home town in 2 days and I can't wait *shivers*

Iggy and the stooges (One time reunion show)
I couldn't believe it when I heard this was happening on the radio. I had allready bought tickets to the show and I guess they scheduled this a little later to be part of the preceding. I almost veered off the freeway when I heard it was on the day I was going. The stooges have always been one of my favourite bands and the chance to watch a one time reunion show is more than anything I could ask for. Iggy Pop and the boys took the stage and Iggy went full force into his old school stooges personoa for this audience of kids who hadn't a clue who the fuck they were. It was like me and three other people in this gigantic crowd singing and thrashing about while a bunch of people just stared on the stage thinking who the hell are these guys..... Oh man Iggy played so many old stooge favorites. He played one of my all time favorite songs ever Dirt with style. All the while swearing between sets, spitting into the audience and doing his little iggy dance. This set was pretty much musical Nirvana for me.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers
This is my third time seeing these guys and they never cease to amaze me. How good they all are together could embaress even the greatest bands. Every single one of them is a musical genius. Watching flea play bass, John play the guitar like a god, and Anthony prance around the stage singing in a voice that would make jim morrison jealous as their drummer who is damn good pounds away will never get old for me. a Great way to close out the evening.

All in All this was the greatest show in my life and one I don't think may ever be topped. Did any other schmoes out there in joblo land attend?

Nope I seriously think Anthony has one of the greatest voices to grace rock. But I also view Leonard Cohen and tom waits have great voices so it might just be my taste :D
