WRONG TURN hype thread

As sum of u may kno, Eliza Dushku has a new horror movie comin out in less than a month. Wrong Turn was moved up over three months from September 10th to May 30th by 20th Century Fox. The date however, appears to be comin all too soon. It could have possibly been lost in all the X2 production, cuz Fox has little to no info provided on the movie. I just wanted to spread the word and start a hype or official thread for the movie to spread some awareness.

What it's about...
A wrong turn leaves a group of young people West Virginia wilderness. The trip soon makes a turn (hah pun) for the worse when the foursome becomes the apetizing prey of cannabalistic mountainmen disfigured due to years of inbreeding.

And recently covered on Joblo, Wrong Turn will have no official trailer, after three different trailers submitted by fox were rejected by the MPAA. Theses trailers were named "too intense".

while it gives me hope and happiness that they are sticking to their guns with the original script and such,i dont see why they couldnt tone down a trailer for publicity...its going to effect this ones $$$ big time.however,im hyped for it and hopefully will see it opening night.i dig jeremy sisto and eliza dushku and desmond harrington looks to be fit for the role in this one,and the plot just sounds awesome.emmanuelle chiriqui looks amazingly annoying for some reason.

OH MY GOSH, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!! Hey Edsoulsurvive, where'd you get those pics? They're awesome. I just visited the official site and I love the new wallpapers. I love that Eliza's getting back into her kicking-ass 'faith' feel again. We need a trailer though... i think it's interesting that Stan Winston is doing effects for this movie and there's no hype at all.
Just to make sure, they're saying that there will be a release and the movie won't be trashed completly? I'm a little confused. This is the perfect date movie :). It could make some serious $$.

Yes, I will definately see this. It has been a LONG time since a truly scary/gory horror film came out. And no, FD2 does not count. Gory? Yes. Scary? No. Fun? HELL YES!

I think this film looks incredibly lame. The cast is mediocre, the plot sucks, and the pictures are dull. I doubt I'll see this sure-to-be shitfest.

I think this film looks like it could be fun times. The cast is kool (love Sisto and Dushku), the plot is vintage 70's, and the pictures are ok. I know I'll be there fer sure!

with the third to last ep off Buffy airing to nite, I'm expectin an ad or sumthin. Fox better get a movie on. Wrong Turn's chances of bein a success get smaller and smaller every day w/o a ttailer or sumthin. What is Fox thinkin???

no..there isnt going to be a trailer,just TV spots...which just got me thinking...

if they can trim things down for tv spots,why not do the same for a theatrical trailer?

I am really excited about this movie will see it in theaters fer sure! Any movie Filled with gore and violence is at the top of my list!

I will probably see this film because I like horror films and Dushku is simply someone I find really attractive. I question what exactly Fox is doing with this film. Why no trailer? There has to be a way to cut a trailer acceptable for theatres. The House of 1K Corpses had one and the plot for that is somewhat similar to the plot for Wrong Turn. They are probably thinking that they can save money by not putting together much in the way of advertising which is actually obviously going to be true. The film was made for ten million so it won't have to do really very well to make a profit. It will probably get a wide release which should make it easier for the film to make money. House of 1K Corpses even made more than 10 million and it never went wider than 800 and change theatres. Maybe Fox is hoping that the buzz on the net will help it generate some interest which, in turn, could possibly turn into box office reciepts.

Freeway, you bring up a good point with the profit. I think that a gory, scary, boob filled movie like this will make a decent profit on its own for a bit. And if it does end up doing well in the first few weeks, maybe Fox will think twice about giving it more attention.

I noticed that that's kind of what happened with Bend It Like Beckham. I saw it before it got all the media hype and then as soon as it entered in the top of the lists, the teasers started appearing all over TV. So we'll see.


I think that someone mentioned the final episodes of Buffy to be on the lookout for the teasers and I agree. Anyone who sees them should definitly give a shout out and let us know how they looks yah? :)
